1989 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 1st GENERATION CALIFORNIACLASSIC 4X4
I have a 1989 Toyota 4Runner 1st generationCalifornia Classic 4x4. It still has itoriginal paint tomato red with patina all around. It is bone dry with no visible rust. It sits nicely on 15” chrome deep dish wheelswith All Terrain BFGoodrich 33” x12.5.The seats are clean considering it is a 31 year old car. There are no rips. There are minor dash cracks as expected. Front windows roll up and down as theyshould. All lights work well and thefront bumper have 2 off-road hella lights. The automatic shifts smoothly and it an easy drive. The engine was rebuilt around 135k and drivesstrong. If you know the 22re engine, itis almost bullet proof. On top sits athule rack and a Conferr utility basket rack.Oh yeah, did I mention this Truck can go topless? Well the black top comes off so the secondrow is convertible!
Thesedays, the1984–89Toyota 4Runneris becoming a sought-after collector vehicle in the U.S.,so much so that it was recently added to theHagerty Price Guideafter prices and insurancequotes began to rise.
“The numberof 4Runners being added to our insurance policies has doubled over the past twoyears. They can’t be ignored,” says Hagerty valuation editor Andrew Newton. “Werecently started formally tracking them because they’ve been getting moreexpensive over the past 2–3 years, plus they have an enthusiastic following.
