I love this truck very much and hate to see it go. It’s literally my dream truck, a 1987 SR5 turbo extra cab 4x4 5 speed manual. Yes, I realize I have an 86 grille on it. I prefer the look. I originally bought this truck to totally restore and I’m 3/4 of the way done, but unfortunately have come to the realization that at age 19 I have run out of time and money to continue this project. I was stationed at. Camp Pendleton California and bought this truck sight unseen and had it shipped from Colorado to New Jersey ($1000). The amount of work and time I’ve put into this truck is staggering. Here is what I can remember off the top of my head;
I hope I covered it all. It runs, drives and shifts great. It needs an exhaust from the headers back and a bed obviously. You can buy an all fiberglass bed shipped to your door for around 2 grand. I unfortunately don’t have the money. I got rid of the old bed because it was dented and scratched up. I wanted this thing perfect so I sold it and planned on buying a fiberglass one, but here we are. While I had the bed off I totally sanded, rust reformed and painted the entire frame from the cab back. It was already in great shape, just figured I’d do it while I had the bed off. I probably have a few hundred man hours into this thing and am physically sick to see it go. Power locks work, as well as power windows. The truckDID NOT come with A/C from the factory. It also has the highly slit after turbo seats which are in great shape also. It has the rear sliding glass, map light, dome light, door lights and a boost gauge mounted on the a pillar. Heat works amazing, will literally give you first degree burns and the turbo spools up great. It’s actually surprisingly fast, especially with no bed lol. All lights and signals work as they should as well. You can eat off any part of the frame and the truck has no rust on the cab. It doesn’t leak a drop of anything either. Overall amazing restoration candidate (3/4 of the way there) and fun truck. The turbo let off sounds sick too. Every gear works great and has no problems getting up to speed. You will not be disappointed, great opportunity to get an SR5 turbo that’s not 20-30k. Thank you.
