Frame Off Restored 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ73. This is a European spec 70 Series Land Cruiser from Spain with desirable left hand drive, the legendary 3.4L 4 cylinder naturally aspirated 3B diesel engine, H55f 5 speed transmission, split case transfer case, heavy duty full floating 9.5 inch axles with a rear factory limited slip differential. This BJ73 also has very rare air conditioning. It is equipped with Old Man Emu 30mm springs and shocks and (5) brand new 235/75R16 BFG KM2 All Terrains. The FRP top is removable on this Land Cruiser to get the "Jeep" open top experience. This BJ73 will also come with a color matching set of very rare rear factory half doors for the complete open top experience (see picture).
The Land Cruiser was restored in 2018 in Spain. The body was removed from the frame, the frame was sand blasted and repainted (no rust), all fuel lines and brake lines were replaced. Axles were sand blasted, repainted and rebuilt with new knuckles, bearings and seals. The body received repairs where needed and a fresh repaint in the Toyota factory 033 paint color (no rust). The transmission and transfer case received all new seals and gaskets. The engine (419k KM/ 260k Miles) was cleaned and all fuel lines, seals and gaskets were replaced, although this engine is high mileage it did not require a rebuild due to the tolerances being extremely close to factory spec. Most factory bolts were removed, cleaned and galvanized. Window and door seals were all replaced. The interior received a brand new, factory vinyl floor. The seats in this Land Cruiser are in excellent condition due to the use of seat covers by the previous owner. The entire restoration is photo documented, every nut, bolt, electronic and mechanical system on this Land Cruiser was removed, inspected and either replaced or rebuilt, nothing was left unchecked. The Land Cruiser was also featured in the March 2018 Spanish 4x4 Magazine "Formula Todo Terreno". You can see the article in the pictures, this article was written before the restoration took place.
This Land Cruiser is a true head turner. It brings a lot of attention to itself due to its rarity and uniqueness in the States and for the reputation these vehicles have built around the world as the go-to vehicle for crossing African desserts and the Australian Outback. In November 2019 it was driven from Madrid, Spain to Brussels, Belgium (about 1600km) without issue before shipping across the Atlantic. I would not hesitate to drive this Land Cruiser anywhere.
