fj40 LandCruiser, 1972 frame off resto-mod, fuel injected 3fe, Toyota PTO winch, 4 speed, power steering, disk brakes, dual fuel tanks, dual tire/jerry can carriers. This is a veryrare opportunity to own a one of a kind resto-mod FJ40. A 3fe conversion in anFJ40 is somewhat of a unicorn, often talked about but rarely seen. This is oneof the few ways to have fuel injection and keep the factory PTO winch whilesticking to Toyota engineering. This is a very tidy cruiser and looks like itcould have come this way from Toyota. This was not an easy straight forwardbuild. Hundreds of hours of research, parts sourcing and building went in to creatingthis cruiser’s clean look and performance. My reserve is set for far less. Body: Mediablasted to bare metal, any rust was removed and properly repaired with weldedin steel. The body was primed with epoxy and sealed with various productsdesigned to prevent rust. Raptor liner was used on the inside floor boards andbed. The exterior was finished using FJ40 period correct PPG single stage FashionGreen. Very little filler was needed or used because we wanted to keep the originalspot welds visible. Mechanical: Ade-smogged 3FE with 160s compression was swapped in. It doesn’t smoke and runslike a top. We made sure to keep the check engine light and its code reading ability.A later land cruiser four speed and transfer case was installed and connectedto original axles. A FJ62 front disk brake and power steering conversion wasdone. It’s running on 33” BFG all terrains with later FJ40 rims and a basicallystock suspension. I do this asa hobby not a living. I enjoy finding and building old 4x4s. Sadly this cruiserhas reached the point where it doesn’t really need me anymore which is why I’mselling. As I’m not a salesman I’ll do my best to be realistic about owning almostany vintage 4x4. Keeping itreal: This vehicle is not perfect! For example; The horn isn’t connected. The fuelgauge doesn’t read the auxiliary fuel tank when switched. There might be a partor two that is still in a box, but I’ll include. Do not buy this cruiser if youhaven’t used or do not own any tools! For the last 5 years I’ve used thiscruiser to occasionally drive to work but mostly to joyride and access ourbottom 20. Most of the paint is five years old and was never perfect. Now ithas various chips, touch ups and brush rubs. Do not buy this cruiser if youwant to wax the paint job more than using it as intended! This cruiser has beencompletely gone through, is fun to drive and has never left me stranded, butmost of its parts and design are still over 40 years old, it drips some oil! Donot buy this cruiser if you really need a gently used Camry! Do not buy it ifyou don’t like waving at people or if you have road rage problems. Everyonewill already know who you are or will remember you! I’ll behappy to answer any questions or to send more pictures to serious buyers. We can talkabout payment and pick-up when you win the bid.
