1989 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 Convertible Additional Info:

1ST GENERATION 4RUNNERCONVERTIBLE:The last of the finest. Immaculate rust free classic 1989 Toyota 4RUNNER 4x4 survivor runs & drives BETTER than it looks.Comes with clean notorized Arizona title. You can jump in this truck and drive it coast to coast feeling confident it would need nothing but gasoline. If you've ever wanted a really nice, tight, rust free, 100% original unmolested 1st generation 4Runner the time to buy is when you see it because this won't be long on the market. After all, where are you going to find another one owner specimen with an Experian score of 64 on their scale of 27 to 50?HISTORY:This amazing 4Runner survivor was born in 1989 in a factory in Hamura, Japan. Itwas the last year that Toyota offered the convertible top 4Runner. It's rust free from Tucson, AZ where the air is so dry metal doesn't corrode. It's been meticulously maintained by a non-smoker with all services performed at factory recommended intervals.
MECHANICALS:Exceptionally strong running 3.0L V6 mated to a rugged Aisin A340H automatic transmission. Other features include power disc front brakes, power steering, and factory AC that not only blows cold but has been professionally converted to the modern 134A freon. It drives down the road like a new truck. Tight, smooth, quiet & peppy with no rattles, no steering wander or suspension slop. Virtually every wearable part from stem to stern has been replaced or serviced with 4 new Toyo radial tires.
3VZE V6Multi-port fuel injected V6 engine runs like an industrial sewing machine.Starts every time with a turn of the key. No smoke, no knocks, no leaks, no issues. Very quiet. Runs cool, even on 112 degree Tucson summer days with AC blowing cold. Everything under the hood is stock & most everything is new. The factory Federal emissions components are all stock and the included Experian history shows it has never, ever failed an emissions test. 192k original miles. Comes with receipts showing the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, hydraulic tensioner, cam seals and crank seal replaced at 187k miles with factory Aisin parts. At 192k miles the 3 drive belts were replaced as well as the valve cover gaskets making sure the half dome rubber cam seals at the back of the engine were also sealed, a crucial service that is typically neglected.
A340H4 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:Shifts smooth and concise as designed. Ask any transmission expert and they won't deny that the Aisin A340 is arguably the best automatic transmission that humans have ever built. Comes with receipt showing at 187k miles the transmission was removed and professionally rebuilt & resealed using new OEM shift solenoids & clutch packs plus a new filter and remanufactured torque converter.
2 SPEED TRANSFER CASE:The 2 speed integral transfer case shifts smooth as designed. Factory Aisin manual lockout hubs engage the front axle almost effortlessly. This is a Toyota after all. Their 4x4 reliability is legend.
IFS SUSPENSION, WHEELS & TIRES:Stock suspension clears new Toyo 31x10.5x15 radial tires mounted and balanced on factory 15x7 aluminum rims. All 4 shocks were replaced at 192k miles along with a 4 wheel brake job. All of the suspension and drive lines are exceptionally tight with no rattles or steering slop whatsoever.
DIFFERENTIALS:Both factory differentials are stock with 4.10 gear ratio, open carriers and zero leaks. All the gear oil is fresh.
INTERIOR:The interior is super clean and original with no rips or tears or stains on the original fabric or carpet. All of the lights, signals and gauges work as designed, with the interior package featuring not only tilt wheel & tachometer but also oil pressure, temperature and voltage. The AC blows ice cold, having just been converted to modern 134A freon. The heat blows hot. The factory interior panels are in mint condition. The dash pad has absolutely no cracks in the factory vinyl which is unheard of in sunny Tucson. The factory Toyota stereo cassette deck powers up but no sound comes out?The rear cargo area is as mint as the rest of the truck. The rear seats can fold down flush to convert the rear cargo area to like a pickup truck bed. The rear tailgate window operates electrically with either the center console switch or the key in the tailgate lock.
CONVERTIBLE TOP:The 1st generation 4Runner features a unique fiberglass removable convertible top that's similar in concept to Broncos, Blazers, Jeeps, Landcruisers, and Ram Chargers. If you've never seen how cool they look with the top off you'll need to Google some images because they have a unique roll bar in the rear that makes it look totally unique. The top can be removed by the average guy but it takes a technique. First you remove the 12 interior bolts holding it down which only takes about 12 minutes with a ratchet wrench and 14 mm socket. Then you plant your butt up against the tailgate and start slowly sliding it off, centering the weight, about 140 lbs, onto your back and then get it to the ground. Once off you get that open air convertible vibe and a distinct look with that rear factory roll bar exposed. Unlike pickup trucks which are forbidden from driving down Boulevards and Parkways in many municipalities, the 4Runner is considered a station wagon so it's exempt from those restrictions because it came from the factory with a back seat.
FRAME & BODY:
This truck has no rust except maybe for some typical surface rust on the exhaust components. It has never been wrecked or even wheeled off road in any significant way and still sports the original paint except for a few inches of touch up on the left rear lower quarter. There is a small ding about the size of a quarter on the top of the hood from when a fan blade broke and there's evidence of some sun fading on the roof, hood, and upper quarter panels plus the typical minor stone chips, all of which are hard to detect in pictures and are visible only when a couple feet away.
INSURANCE:This truck is eligible for historic plates in any State. That also mean it's eligible for Collector Car insurance from outfits like Grundy Worldwide or Haggerty which only costs $12 per month for a $10,000 full coverage policy. That's right, a stated $10k full coverage insurance policy is only $12 per month and, get this, emissions are forever waived. I repeat. Collector Car Insurance means no more emissions and a cheap monthly nut on full coverage insurance.
OH WHAT A FEELING:
There's many reasons Toyota trucks are so legendary worldwide. It's no accident that no matter what part of the world you look at whenever you see news footage of guerrilla fighter soldiers with AK47s in the back of a pickup it's always a Toyota.

JUSTSO YOU KNOW:When you tender an OFFER on eBay it's just like a bid, actually it's equivalent to a BUY NOW simply because if that OFFER is accepted, you've then suddenly "entered into a legally binding contract for sale". That's per the TOS (Terms of Service) agreement you accepted when becoming an eBay member. The point is when you tender an OFFER you need not only be truly committed but also have the funds in place and your wife's permission because, for example, at auction's like Barrett-Jackson if you raise a paddle then renig on a bid they ruin your credit score the same as a loan default. This is not a video game. It takes months of preparation to present a vehicle like this on a public auction so please act responsibly.
PAPERWORK:
Clean and clear "A" box original miles Arizona title is notarized & ready to go. Receipts documenting most all the important new parts & labor will be in a packet with the title along with a copy of the Experian Auto Check report with an exceptional above average score of 64 documenting no prior accidents or issues of any kind.
INVESTMENT:Because of their exceptional engineering and reliability these Toyota 4x4's, especially these 1st generation 4Runners, only go up in value every year even while you drive them, providing one of the best investments in the automotive world today, bar none. Fact is there will never be another made like them. They're 1 off legends, as important as American Muscle cars, and are getting exceptionally hard to find in this condition. If not now then soon this truck will be a bargain at twice the price. Don't believe it? CONTACT:Email through eBay or Call52O-Nine 77-O112for any questions prior to clicking which is highly encouraged.
FEEDBACK:If you have ZERO feedback and are serious about this truckthen before doing anything please be sure to call the number above so we can establish that you're not a squirrel. It won't take more than a couple minutes so please just do it or your offer will be cancelled. Unfortunately this is required due to the notorious reputation of eBay rookies for being impulsive non-paying bidders who don't read auction descriptions thoroughly.
IMPORTANT AUCTION TERMS SO PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.As noted from the outset, per the eBay "Terms of Service" (TOS) that you agreed to when registering your OFFER, should it be accepted, "constitutes a legally binding contract for sale" so please don't start clicking if you're not committed to buy with funds in place and wife's permission. Please also make sure the phone number and address you have registered with eBay is current and if you're planning to use PayPal for the deposit that you have liquid funds ready to go that are not in the form of an E-Check which takes 5 or more days to clear, in other words, be a responsible bidder whose got their act together and doesn't have a bunch of excuses.
Inspection prior to bidding is welcome as vintage vehicles are always sold AS IS with no warranty expressed or implied.
PAYMENT TERMS:A non-refundable deposit of $1000 is payable either through a Square.com invoice which will be emailed orPayPal payment within 24 hours of auction close.
Full balance of Payment is due within 72 hours of auction close by either direct bank to bank wire transfer, or you can overnight envelope a Cashiers Check, or pay cash in person, assuming you can get here that fast. PayPal for the full balance is not an option, however a credit or debit card payment through Square.com is, so long as buyer is willing to pay the 3% fees.
SHIPPING:All shipping arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the buyer however we will help your shipper coordinate the loading to the best of our ability. It all begins by calling the number above. Figure shipping any vehicle East of the Mississippi is about a grand. West is less. We will store the vehicle free for 21 days after sale. There is a $15 per day storage fee thereafter unless other arrangements are pre-dickered. Note that many buyers imagine they'll jump on a plane to Tucson, pay in cash in person, and drive the truck home. In most cases that's wrong. Not because the truck will have issues but rather because you won't get cheap airfare to Tucson, you won't have legal plates to drive home with, you'll need to buy insurance, and the overall trip costs plus gas is way more than you think.
