1978 Toyota Land Cruiser Custom Additional Info:

Great 78 Toyota Land Cruiser for Sale,

88000km, 4.2L 6 cylinder, 4 Speed, low gear and 4x4 with freewheeling hubs. This cruiser is mostly original, I just had a few pieces repainted because they looked like a dark orange, you can see those in the last picture. This truck was NOT restored, we fixed a few things because the truck was parked for years, just pulled out once a year to get technical inspection and be driven for about two weeks, then back into the garage. There is a new carburetor installed, new spark plugs, new filters, new spark plug cables, oil, new distributor, new interior headliner, the brakes got redone, the original Recaro seats got upholstered. The seats are old original Recaro, but they did not come with the Toyota original. There are original Hella Fog lights, Hella Horns, an extra interior work light with long cable and magnet from Hella, original Jack, original rear fordable seats, original Toyota front floor mat, Kamei roof rack, and the what looks like original fender flares in excellent condition. There are also 6 additional VDO instruments installed, Clock, Odometer, temperature, engine hours ( I think ), voltage indicator, other rpm meter and some other. The rims are also wider then the normal or common rims on a cruiser, maybe this is a thing because the truck was imported about 25 years ago from Germany. There is also a original Westfalia tow package installed and a working NOT leaking Sun roof. I have no idea if this was original or not. Maybe the most important extra is the PTO ( Power take-off ) original winch. This winch can be worked all day without getting hot, has the full power from the 4.2L engine at disposable. There is a third lever on the floor inside the cruiser next to the shifter. Door, locks, windows, lights and so on all works as it should.

The recently painted parts look good, but this is not a perfect paint job, this was done quickly to match the colors. There was no corrosion and no dings or dents. The rest of the car was polish and buffed, as far as I can tell, this is all original paint, inside and out. Since the truck is from Germany, it’s a common thing there to spray the whole under body with a protective anti corrosion spray, similar to a good spray on bed liner, but soft. This is still under the truck and I believe, this is what protected the truck all those years. I have not seen any corrosion what’s or ever besides the superficial spots under the rear floor mat. The idea was to leave this Cruiser as much as possible original, but still make it look good.

This is a great Cruiser, perfect to keep as is and drive for many years or as a new project to restore an already good Cruiser into a perfect one for shows or collection. This one definitely has the potential to become whatever you like !

I have driven the Cruiser around for a few days, yesterday the 03 of May 2019, I pulled our little boat from the capital to our beach house in Puntarenas. All went great, as expected.

I have a couple of videos with the Cruiser on YouTube, one is a detailed walk around, the other a shorter sales video, more pictures but faster. Check it out:

Shipping to the U.S. is easy, I have done this before with a 69 Scout, it’s only 4 days on the ship to Miami, other ports maybe a little longer. Payment could be done through Escrow, which is safe for both parties. A USD 500,- deposit is required rom the lucky winner right after the auction, this is to make sure that this is serious. Check out my perfect eBay feedback as a member since 1999.

Another option could be that somebody takes a trip to Costa Rica to check out the truck, maybe a short vacation with the Toyota and then a drive home?

Let me know if you have any questions, let me know and I will be happy to help wherever I can. I think eBay now allows phone numbers, so, if you like to call, look for the number and go for it. I will post my U.S. Magic Jack number, in case I don’t answer, just leave a message or send a text and I will get back to you.
