1992 4Runner - Used as a daily commuter. Good Spring Project Car!
Extensive work and parts have been put into this car over the past year; seePros and Cons below:
Pros
- Starts and runs with white smoke from exhaust.
- Exhaust system replaced past the catalytic converter.
- New radio installed with USB, blue tooth (still have the stock radio on hand if you want it).
- Updated tires: Goodyear Wrangler (P235/75R15)
- Rear brakes: Replaced drums, pads, shoes and cylinders
- Front brakes: Replaced rotors, calipers, and pads
- This model is prone to brake vibration with OEM spec brakes, even with changes described above there is a vibration.
- Front end work: Replaced pitman arm, idler arm, tie rods (inner and outer).
- Front end alignment completed after
- Replaced the radiator
- Water pump replaced
- All belts replaced
- AC charged and works well.
- Spare tire pulley replaced and works
- Spare front end skid plate on hand that is in better condition than the one on the truck.
- Rear axle drive shaft seal replaced
- Sun roof works.
- All windows work (including rear).
- Shocks replaced within last several years

Cons
- Head gasket failed and I do not have the time/money to put in to get it repaired.
-Prior to the failure i did notice power reduction and delay in switching gears.
- Power steering pump: line was replaced but I think there is still a slow leak somewhere as I lose level over time.
- Rust: frame was scraped and treated within last year but could prob use another treatment. Pics show rust body damage.
