1974 Toyota Land Cruiser Additional Info:
TOYOTA FJ-40 CRUISER The Classic Styling of the Toyota FJ40 has created an almost cult like following for these early SUV's. At TWC we wanted to respect the classic design while offering the driver a better and safer drivingexperience. Staying true to the brand we choose to integrate a 1974 Toyota FJ40 with a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Our FJ40 was purchased as a work in progress project that its owner had grown stale on. The FJ Cruiser had been in a light front endaccident which made it perfect for our needs. Now all we had to do was integrate the best these two donors had to offer. After adding a few extras and we had a classic looking and excellent driving FJ40/Cruiser.
The magic happens when the two come together as one, By using the complete; Chassis, drive train, all wiring, computers, firewall, dash, front floor and seats from the FJ Cruiser, once inside the FJ It feels and drives like the FJ cruiser that it is. Yet from the outside everyone sees an FJ40. (MAGIC)
We spent around 600 man hours on the integration. Custom made door panels, kick panels and dash to windshield panels make inside look better than factory. The complete tub, and fenders (front and rear), Tailgate and hatch are aluminum. The tailgate has a storage compartment built-in to stow recovery gear. All lights have been converted to LED. A winch and light bar are mounted on the custom built front bumper and a matching rear bumper supports the spare tire carrier and an LED back up Light.
Once we finished we had a great FJ Cruiser body left over. So why not make a camping trailer out of it. We added an axle, matched the wheels and tires on the FJ40/Cruiser, built a V tongue with a heavy duty steel wheel jack and installed a tool box to mount a portable generator inside of. Inside we installed a cabinet that contains a combo heater/AC unit. A queen size bed and TV. Open the back tailgate and you have a small kitchen including a electric cook top, refrigerator, and microwave. We also added a 25 foot AC power cord when power is available.
We are offering the FJ and trailer as a set. They belong together. They are part of one another. Additional build information can be found on our web site. Here's a link to a you tube video. https://youtu.be/uC8DI0mRfgo
