1970 Toyota FJ40 Additional Info:
If you've been looking for a super clean, well-executed FJ build, then this one is worth your time to consider. This vehicle established Toyota's reputation for building strong, reliable vehicles in the 60's because it proved that it is tough enough to handle the harshest conditions about anywhere on the planet. Their well-earned reputation has made them collectible, as well as capable, trucks. Check out this extremely nice example. Looking good in Dove Gray with a white roof and grill, this truck will attract as much attention and admiration pulling up to a fancy restaurant or Broadway show as exotics and stretch limos do, and it can get you back home to that chalet at the top of the mountain without breaking a sweat too. Attention to detail in preparation for the respray of the factory correct paint resulted in a first-class finish. All the headlamps, lenses, and door hardware are new. The windows are clear and the window seals look fresh too. There is a nice chrome step up with diamond plate on the running boards leading into the cab on both sides. Polished aftermarket wheels with BFGoodrich 33x12.50 ATs mounted reinforce the solid look while adding a bit of custom flair to it. There is a mesh grill up front just over a black bumper, a spare tire mounted on another alloy wheel at the rear, and proper badging all around. Open the door and you will find a minimalist chic interior. The paint work on the inside received just as much love as the paint on the outside, which is good because it is the finish of most of the interior. Obviously, that doesn't apply to the seats. The front is a split bench and comfortable for 3 with Dove Gray cloth seating surfaces trimmed in white vinyl. The dash is also trimmed top and bottom in white vinyl. A beefy three spoke steering wheel has the speedometer directly behind it with gauges for oil, temp, fuel, and amps in a row below it. Switches and control knobs are arranged mostly in the center along with an air conditioning unit mounted below the dash to keep you cool on those hot summer days. Clear instructions for operating the transfer case and transmission are screwed to the glovebox door. The back of the truck opens up for easy access and has upholstered fold down seats on each side for a reasonably comfortable ride up the mountain or across the plains. Under the hood you will find the tried and true, tough as nails, 3.9 liter in line 6-cylinder engine. This is the engine that helped build this trucks reputation for durability and is known for it generous amounts of low end power. It was rebuilt as part of the overall restoration and is clean and dry with new, rebuilt, or refurbished components throughout. Needless to say, before it was reinstalled, the engine bay was painted and polished to a high shine too. Power runs back through a 3-speed manual transmission and transfer case to all 4 wheels. As expected, the chassis was also reconditioned properly with the underside of the body as well as the frame rails and all components properly coated in protective paint. New bushings, new fluid lines to the 4-wheel disc brakes with new rotors and calipers, and new hardware throughout make this truck drive like it just rolled out of the showroom. This is a super clean and super thorough build of a highly desirable FJ40. Come on down, take a look. We think you will agree with that assessment, and you may decide to take this one home with you.
