1987 Toyota Pickup Truck 4X4 Custom Off Road Rock Crawler 22RTE Turbo Additional Info:
This is a RARE completely custom 1987 Toyota Pickup that I have owned for over 14 years. This truck is an amazement to drive and performs absolutely amazing off road. I have babied it, hence the condition it is in. You can't find these trucks in this condition anymore- so I know once I loose it, I will never be able to find one like it. I am selling due to moving out of state and taking on a new job. I have held on to it just in case the job didn't work out- but it seems as if it is a permanent move.
Here is what the truck has:
Solid Axle Swapped Front (Toyota Front Axle Modified to Fit Elocker. Gusseted and strengthened with Custom Diff Guard)Marlin Crawler Total Spline 4.7:1 Transfer Case Gears (23 Spline- Strongest)Sky's Off Road Driveshaft Mounted Emergency Disk Brake KitR151F 5 Speed Manual Turbo Transmission (23 Spline Output- Strongest there is)5:29 Gear'd Tacoma Rear Elocking Differential,Factory Rear Axle Housing Modified to fit Elocker5:29 Gear'd Reverse Rotation High Pinion FJ80/LX450 Elocker Front DifferentialTrail-Gear 3" Front and Rear Super Flex Leaf SpringsLow Range Off-Road Front and Rear Upper Shock Mounts, Modified HD Lower Shock LocationsBilstein 5125 Front and Rear ShocksMarlin Crawler Front Billet High-Steer Arms, Full Hysteer with FJ80 Tie Rod EndsTrail-Gear Hydraulic Ram Assist SteeringARP Steering Knuckle Studs30 Spline Chromoly inner hub gears30 Spline Longfield Super Front Axle ShaftsARP Hub StudsCT20 Turbo with Silicone and Stainless Steel Piping (recently replaced)1990+ Intake Plenum and Throttle Body for better throttle responseHD Steel Backed Timing ChainRARE Pillar Guage Pod (no guages installed)261C Crawler CamshaftNew Injector O-ringsToyota True-Start BatterySmittybilt XRC8 WinchCustom Front Winch BumperCustom Rear Traction Bar with Shackle for full rear suspension articulationCobra Dash Mounted CBPioneer CD/MP3 PlayerFull Mandrel Bent and Welded Exhaust with Flex Pipe @ Turbo and Catalytic ConverterOptronics Glowlight Rear Tail LightsCustom Bolt-On Remove-able Tube Frame Bed. 1 3/4" DOM Steel Roll Bar, 1 3/4" ERW steel tubing for bed. Over 160 Hours of Labor for this bed alone. Rear Tail-Gate flips down and has a spring loaded pin for drop down. I wanted this to swing down so that if we were eating lunch on the trail, it would be a good table. All Panels were CNC plasma cut out of steel and painted front and back for corrosion resistance.Custom Cab Extension provides usable space in cab for tow straps, fluids, tools, etc. Cab extension made from square steel tubing frame and 1 full piece of sheet metal for a seamless transition. Interior notch was made for fuel tank clearance. (I don't like fuel cells in these trucks as it changes the center of gravity)Remove-able rear mudflap hangers and mudflaps included (removes with lynch pin)Tires are 37X12.50X15 Goodyear Wrangler MTR on 15" ADR Nitro Wheels. The tires are very weather beaten and will need replacing. There is no way around it, as they wouldn't be safe. I haven't replaced them because if the truck didn't sell, then I didn't want new tires to go bad again.I also didn't replace because my choice may not be for your intended purpose for the truck.Rear window has some weld splatter due to all the custom work, but I haven't really cared to replace it as it didn't bother me.I am sure I am missing things, but I can't remember as I haven't driven the truck in some time. Truck has gobs of power- I have had several toyota pickups and this one was my favorite to drive. You can sure hear the turbo especially off road and when under torque. It doesn't lack power and the gearing is perfect for any off road usage. I was going to do a dual case setup but never needed the gearing to be any lower- keeping the single transfer case was also the strongest option.Truck is Located in Provo, Utah- about 1 hour south of Salt Lake City.
