Up for sale is a very clean 1974 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser with the original matching numbers 6cylinder engine and four speed transmission and four wheel drive transfer case. It comes with the original optional rear compartment heater, original factory tool kit as well as the original owners manuals for the vehicle and the WARN winch . Also included is a workshop manual.
History:According to the previous owner who purchased the FJ in 1992 he was going to restore it to it's original glory but after driving it home it sat in in the garage for twenty five years until I came along boughtit where it sat for all of those years. When I got the car there was rust inboth rear quarter panel, both rockers panels, both running boards, both rear wheel wells, and a hole in the flat part of the floor in the front drivers side. Rather than do a clumsy patch job all rust was cut out and replaced withy new metal. The running boards are factory Toyota parts and the quarters are complete quality replacements. The rear wheel well housings and floor were fabricated from 3/16" diamond plate new metal. The frame is rust free. I have include one photo of the partially disassembled FJ prior to paintso you can see the extent of the detail going into the job of getting it back on the road for years of service.
Whats NEW:
The entire vehicle has been painted in the original factory color of Cymus White(the color looks rather like off white or beige). It has abright white top.As mentioned before extensive body work was done to remove any rust and replace with clean metal. I am being a little overly critical here perhaps because the car was not in that bad of shape but I have many older vehicles in my collection and I didn't want to have a problem car. The interior was replaced with the original front factory seats in the original factory colors. The rear seat was reupholstered in the same color with extra padding added. A new floor mat was installed .
All lighting was replaced with original Toyota factory parts. These included the tail lights, turns signal lights, rear reflectors, rear badges, new rear bumpers and bumper pads. New Toyota factory outside mirrors, new rubber weather stripping, and new stainless steel mounting hardware on many of the hinges etc. The hood mounted latches on top and on the side are also factory Toyota parts.Lots of parts have been removed and media blasted then primed and painted or powder coated. This includes door parts, seat frames wheels etc.
The brakes and front brake drums have been replaced by a local professional brake shop. Also new is a complete new exhaust system and all new (both front and rear) Monroe shock absorbers.
The front and rear bumpers are new and are also Toyota factory parts. The winch is a 18,000lb capacity Warn winch with a brand new synthetic rope of 19,500 lbs, capacity. The winch is electrically operated.
The engine has received a major tune up including a brand new correct carburetor(not rebuilt but new). New plug, points, many hose, filters, new fuel pump, radiator reconditioned, oil change and new battery. The engine runs well and is strong.
There are five new tires including the rear mounted spare along with all new Toyota OEM hubcaps.
You will not be disappointed in this very clean three owner FJ40. It has been driven less than twenty miles since the work was done at my shop and the stickers on the tires can still be seen and have not worn off. I have spent several thousand dollars on parts and labor restoring this vehicle and it is being offered at a very fair low reserve price.
The title is a clear Idaho title in my name . Both the title and bill of sale will be furnished at the completion of the transaction along with all manuals that I have.
