1986 Toyota 4Runner Delux Additional Info:
1986 Toyota 4runner Delux 4wd 5spd Manual Vin: JT4RN62D6G0001627 Miles: 171K One of the nicest 4runners we have had the joy of owning. This 1986 Toyota 4Runner is a survivor and only has 171k miles. The truck is all original and freshly serviced with new Bilstein shocks, new flywheel, new clutch, new oil pump, new timing chain, new radiator hoses, TOYOTA TRUE START battery, new air conditioning compressor, new condenser, new power steering pump, new windshield, New Master Cylinder, replaced rear shackles, fresh diff seals and a new exhaust, Including Catalytic converter and is now ready to drive with no immediate needs. All parts that have been replaced are O.E.M, NO CHEAP AFTER MARKET PARTS! The original 22RE 4-cylinder features electronic fuel injection and provides good power sent through a Toyota 5-speed gearbox with 2-speed Hi/Lo transfer case. We have addressed several maintenance items including 4 new shocks, new exhaust, from the cat back, and new spark plugs. It is freshly serviced with synthetic fluid in all the cases, replaced oil and filters, new antifreeze, and new wiper blades. Sale includes CARFAX, service history, and manuals. The Red/tan color combo really looks good on the first generation 4Runners. The paint is all original and we love the factory graphics that were 1986-specific. The removable fiberglass top has been refurbished and sits over the factory 4-point roll bar. Factory SR5 alloys wheels W/ hub caps . There wrapped in 31''BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. Glass is all original, except for windshield, and original mud flaps remain. The interior is completely redone and upgraded to the highly sought after SR5. The seats have been removed and professionally recovered to match the original SR5 interior. Also a new rear carpet kit was installed. The factory auxiliary gauge cluster with altimeter and level readings light up and work well. It is great to see the original steering wheel, and factory transfer case instruction sticker still in place. Driveshaft u-joint lube instructions in driver sunvisor still intact. The dash is free of major cracks, there is one minor one in right top inner edge by window seal apporimately 1" long that is very difficult to notice. The crack has been sealed professionally to prevent anymore cracking. The headliner fits tightly and looks very clean on cab roof. The rear headliner has three small tears. Everything on the car works the way it should including the A/C(Cold!!), rear wiper, electric rear window, and the rear window defrost. This 4Runner feels, drives, and sounds as tight as it did when it rolled off the dealership lot in 1986. It is a true pleasure to drive! Lots Lots More Images Available!! Click Here HISTORY In 1986, the Surf/4Runner underwent a major front suspension design change as it was changed from a solid front axle to the Hi-Trac independent front suspension. Track width was also increased by three inches. These changes made the trucks more comfortable on-road, and improved stability and handling. The new suspension also increased the space in the engine compartment (necessary to fit larger engines, such as the V6 introduced in 1987) but arguably decreased the truck's off-road capabilities. The North American specification Toyota Pickup also adopted this new suspension, but the regular Hilux for other markets at this point retained the more rugged and capable, if less refined, solid axle configuration. With the 1986 update, the Surf/4Runner grille changed from the three segment type to the two segment grille. Tops were color-matched on blue, red and some gold models, while other body colors were still sold with black or white tops. CLASSIC CAR RESTORATIONS: The term "restoration" in context to the vintage car world has taken on a definition of its own. For some people, a restoration is simply painting a car and replacing items as needed, while for others, restoration means an extensive disassembly and overhaul, with each piece getting rebuilt or replaced. As a consumer, it's important to understand the basics of restoration levels for it can impact classic car values substantially. There are hundreds of ways to “restore” a vintage car or truck including but not limited to the following: i). Frame off restoration. Body of vehicle is completely taken off the frame and restoration includes body, frame, floor pans (top and bottom), etc. these restorations tend to be extensive and costly. ii). Rotisserie restoration. These restorations are when the body (or body and frame on a unibody vehicle) are disassembled and restored utilizing a rotisserie. Body of vehicle is completely taken off the frame and restoration includes body, frame, floor pans (top and bottom), etc. these restorations tend to be extensive and costly and iii). Cosmetic or “driver quality” restoration. These restoration are typically limited to cosmetic items including paint and body, interior, trim and emblems, etc. Within the three levels or restoration mentioned above, there can be varying quality from an “in the garage / amateur” restoration to a high dollar professional “concours” restoration. There is a universal 100 point grading system rating classic car conditions ranging from 100 being excellent to 20 being unrestorable. In addition to the levels of restoration above, it's important to understand the type of restoration as well for it can also impact value substantially. Type of restorations include: i). Factory or stock restoration. This type of restoration is geared towards restoring the car or truck to stock specs from the factory as if it were new. These types of restorations use original or oem (original equipment manufacturer) where possible. Factory original restorations tend to bring the highest dollars from collectors. ii). Custom restoration. These types of restorations are geared towards builder preference over factory stock. These can be refereed to as “customs” or “hot rods”. Typically these vehicles will have custom paint work, aftermarket wheels, suspension upgrades, power plant transplants, etc. A specific sector of custom restoration vehicles is “pro-touring” or “restomod / restomods” which are custom built with a more modern street performance and creature comforts than the original factory vehicle. Please note that we are not a restoration shop nor do we restore vehicles to any degree. We provide HD images, in every one of our listings. Very few companies offer this much detail.
