1988 Toyota 4Runner sr5 Additional Info:
Old school meets new school! Here’s my 1988 Toyota 4Runner with a 2001 Tacoma 3.4 V6 engine, tacoma five speed manual transmission, tacoma full dash, tacoma gauges, steering wheel and Tacoma interior swap! A good friend of mine who does LS swap’s in showroom condition hot rods helped me out with this truck it is not a backyard garage swap.
Here’s the story about this 4runner, I bought it out of central California (zero rust) and took it back to my house in the bay area. After getting it back I found out the 3.0 engines head gasket had a leak so after a few weeks I found/bought a 2001 Tacoma sr5 with 41,000 miles on it that was rolled on its side. I really bought it for the engine but after driving the truck home I realized how nice the truck was interior wise with only having 41,000 miles on it, So I swapped the 3.4 engine and transmission (which have 46,000 miles on them), clutch pedal and slave cylinder, center console, steering wheel, wiring harness power window switches, power locks, front seats, center console, we cut the firewall out of the Tacoma and welded it in The 4runner, so it has all of the heating and AC components just like a Tacoma would. Full exhaust from the tacomarouted the same way asthe 4runner exhaust, It has a Marlin crawler adapter mated to a topshift transfer case so i could use the tacoma transmission. I had to get a custom driveshaft made for the Tacoma transmission and 4runner transfer case. 1” bodylift was installed to clear the transmission. Full dynomat inside the 4runner. Sunroof with sunroof cover, all top plastics and rear cargo are plastics in good shape and even rear headrest are in the rear seats! New bf goodrich all terrains on aluminum bulletholewheels, old school smittybuilt bumpers are in excellent shape. The tacoma radio cd player works just fine as does the cruise control, horn, all lights. Scan gauge is plugged into theobd port, Its likeyou're driving a tacoma inside! There’s so much time, work, and fabrication in this 4runner, ican't even begin to explain it but once we started we werecommitted. I sure hate to sell it but I don’t drive that much now and I’m on the fence of getting a four-door Tacoma anyway. This runner will last forever with this running gear in it. Theres not another one like it anywhere. I drive itdaily to work with zero issues. pleasedon't contact me unless you have cash with permission to spend it, and are ready to buy. Any questions my cell is 808 4two8729one. idon't needhelp selling. Iwill assist with shipping. 4runner is registered in South carolina andI've never had to smog it.
