The two main things this car needs is a distributor and windshield. I recently replaced the battery last week. I did the distributor cap and rotor button and plugs and wires. There was a small burn't spot in distributor and was told it may last awhile before needing replaced. I have over 2000 miles on it since then. I put 550 just this last weekend/Monday. I got a ticket for doing 80 in a 70 mph zone - so it does move well.
Added this info Friday Feb. 23rd - for what it's worth called an auto zone and they quoted me 176.00 for the distributor. You have to match up with the cap and wires otherwise you have to replace plug wires as they make two different size plug ends for that years distributor cap depending on who the manufacturer is. A small plug wire end on the cap or a larger one. I have the larger wire plug ends on mine presently.
Added on Feb. 26th. - recently started to sputter upon start up. Did that before tune up in November. Recently reared its ugly head and reverted back to the sputtering upon start up. You have to hold the gas pedal down to get it to fire. Other times its fine. Not a mechanic. I just know in November the tune up helped but was advised to hold off on distributor. So needless to say it may fire right up or may need to be trailered for safety sake. I did drive it last weekend after it did that start up sputter. Later in the day it got me 150 miles down the road with no issues. Selling AS-IS no guarantee's but with a few tweaks should get back to normal.
My wires and cap are currently NGK - for reference sake.
This runs and drives. The distributor is a known future repair that should be fixed sooner than later. It can be driven as is. I have a new toy and am buying a boat soon - so I am unable to finish this car. That's all.
Don't be fooled by my starting price. It's not exactly a parts car by no means. Fixed right it will be a daily driver. I have had 3 Camry's for about 10 years. I have a new toy ( my 1978 Ranchero that I just bought ) - so this one I'm letting go of. It's close to being a great car again.
I have fixed and replaced other parts.
Ac will need charged/converted and the heater needs some tweaking. The doors don't stay open for the heat to come in.
Tires have less than 5000 miles and look brand new.
Clean car.
I am the 3rd owner. 1st lady had approx 20 years. 2nd owner around 5 years and myself 2 1/2 years. I have put around 9,000 miles on it. It's my A to B car.
Gets around 30 mpg
Goes up to 110 approx with its last gear at 90.
Cruise works.
Exhaust ok. May need muffler. I don't consider it loud by no means.
The cars body has very little rust - driver door and driver fender - see pictures.
Starting at $500 - good luck
