Original Texas vehicle via New Mexico. I bought this FJ with title issues six months ago with the intention of sorting out its short comings and keeping it forever. Well, life got in the way of those plans and I must give it up. The title is now squeaky clean and I installed the intake, bumperetts, exhaust and battery, OEM heater valve as well as OEM wiper arms and blades. Previous owner had the OME reversal/shocks professionally done just prior to my purchase. Excellent installation, a joy to drive. Four wheel drive works properly, however I have not had the opportunity to use it.
The floors and firewall show no significant rust. Surface rust at firewall behind pedals had minor surface rust that I treated and primed. At some time it had a box or something mounted in the rear and as such has holes in the carpet. Looks like they slid it in and out where paint is touched up as shown in picture. Exterior paint is great but has some nicks and a few scratches. Rust is evident where spare mount meets body. Looks to me like they left out the gasket. Imperfection on paint in the same area. Could be rust or junk under the paint. Either way not serious. Frame is clean and shows no sign of rust anywhere.
Issues:
Seats need covering. Foam is good. Jump seats fine. Straps incorrect but functional.
Missing headliner.
Windshield wipers not functional.
Turn signal relay needs replacing.
Wiring missing for reverse lights.
Rear door lock needs installation. OEM Toyota part included.
Dash pad cracked.
This Toyota has all the right stuff to make the ultimate FJ. These drivetrains are known to run over 500,000 miles before rebuild. Fuel economy, power and low end torque are fantastic.
