1988 Toyota Land Cruiser Additional Info:
This Cruiser's got almost 181,000 km/112,450 miles on it with many more to go! Automatic 6-cylinder HJ61 from Japan- right hand drive. Has Toyo All-terrain tires that have about 3,000 miles on them, two new batteries, all new fluids and radiator flushed. New fuel filter after a leak in previous fuel filter that sprayed diesel all over the engine block, hence the flushed radiator and all new fluids! I planned on putting all new Viton fuel lines in for the full-on biodiesel but haven't gotten that far. Current fuel lines are in good shape.
Very little rust, main areas are the back hatch handle, as seen in pictures, and a few spots on the frame/paint that would be easy to control. The undercarriage is clean and my mechanic said it looks really good for the age and materials- little rust.
Truck came with a newish radio/cd/Japanese tape deck, so it plays CDs and you can pick up a few stations on the radio with the antenna up- antenna goes up and down well. Windows are electronic and a bit slow on the driver side but are easy to manipulate to get back on track. The truck had a winch at some point so all of the equipment is still in place but the actual winch is not. Turbo works great- I cruise at 70-75 easily on the interstate and can get up to 80 as needed. I've been averaging 25 mpg highway and 28mpg around town. As an older truck it does go through more oil than what we're used to these days but adding oil every 200-300 miles isn't too costly. No oil leaks. Interior is in great shape- brown shag carpet type floor carpet and dark brown/light brown cloth seats. Sunroof works great, just some blistering noted on it's forward lip but hasn't been a problem. Sunroof does not leak.
That's the gist. Hard to describe how amazing this machine is without seeing/driving it for yourself! It is truly bittersweet for me to need to sell her but I'm not quite able currently, between working full-time and going to grad school, to commit the time and energy towards making this my biodiesel daily driver, which was my original goal.
This diesel runs smooth and can crawl over anything. The perfect beach cruiser, mountain climber, or semi-economical 4x4 daily driver! I am asking 19,500. I've driven it around 3,000 miles and have loved every minute! I've never taken it off road and my understanding is that the owner before me in Japan kept it mainly as a city vehicle. I bought her from Steve Jackson at Land Cruiser Direct in Ozark, MO. He loved this truck too!
If you are interested, email me and I'll send more pics and answer any questions! If you want to test-drive I'll figure out a time to meet you-
Manufactured in Japan, so US assigned VIN is HJ61009914.
