1983 Toyota Land Cruiser Additional Info:
This is a beautiful example of an original USA market April 1983 FJ40 with PS and vent windows. I am the second owner, with the first owner having the original vehicle registration, maintenance records, owners manuals, service manuals, etc. It comes with original front and rear floor mats, tool bag, glove box light and historical documentation on the current low mileage of 87,500. When I purchased the truck in July 2015 the odometer was 79,000, and it was perfectly straight with no accident damage.
Everything works, everything. Cooling fan, seat belt warning, choke light, cig lighter, etc. (I don't smoke). Lights, instruments, dash pulls and mechanics all work as expected.
This barn find was brought back to life with numerous new items, including: Fuel tank, refurbished OEM fuel lines, rebuilt carb, brake lines, brake rotors, discs, rear drums, pads and components, rear tail lights (OEM), turn signals (OEM), new rear axle seals, front axle seals and bearings (front end rebuilt), fuel pump, fuel filter, belts, hoses, clamps, tie rods and ends, PS pump, and rebuilt OEM PS box (Westtexasoffroad), exhaust pipe including catalytic converter and muffler using OEM brackets and braces, and Old Man Emu (OME) springs, and bushings.
Almost everything that could simply be unbolted was removed, blasted, powder coated, and reinstalled including the following: roll bar, skid plate, radiator splash guard, battery stand, carb fan cooling bracket, running boards, tail light rock guards, front bevel, tow hooks, transmission shift handle, steering column base, emergency brake bucket, heat shields, PS bracket, alternator bracket, valve cover, etc.
For paint, the fenders, windshield, bib, side panels, and doors were removed and everything was painted 464, the original factory paint color, and reassembled to the tub which was also given the 'all steel, no bondo' approach as well and is beautiful. The PS box had to be rebuilt and was shipped to WestTexasOffRoad who sets the industry standard. A new OEM PS pump and belts were installed at that time. A new water pump, thermostat, gaskets, etc were all added as well.
The front and rear heater boxes were removed, refurbished, and reinstalled with new OEM clamps and hoses.
Basically this truck is a very nice example. The front seats have FJ60 seat covers on them, but retain the FJ40 frames and cushions. I have the grey backrests and headrests, but the original grey seat bottoms were torn. The rear jump seats are all original, with the original straps (which show their age).
An extra set of white OEM rims go with this truck along with the chrome set and brand new tires seen in the pics, 32 x 15 x 9.5.
A $1,000 deposit within 72 hours of purchase is required via PayPal. Potential buyers are welcome to come to Jacksonville, FL for a test drive and tire kick session, or send an inspector of your choice. The remaining balance is due within 10 days of sale, with confirmed funds only. No Paypal on remaining balance.
The vehicle is garaged locally and may be kept here for three weeks ensuring time for the buyer to arrange pickup. I drive this truck several times a week, if you have a question, please ask.. I've also got an 82 I'm keeping. Just don't drive them enough to keep them both. Thanks.
