1988 Toyota Other - No Reserve - 39,893 miles Additional Info:
I purchased this pickup truck from Austin Texas 4 months ago (4000 miles) as a summer cruiser. The truck was used as a light duty garden truck it's entire life, which is why it has only accumulated 39,893 miles. The 4 cylinder 22R runs great, similar to the smoothness of the 4 speed manual transmission. I installed a Weber 32/36 carburetor because, unfortunately, the original carburetor had been destroyed from the ethanol fuel sitting over time. I have also installed an Offenhauser intake on it to pair nicely with the carburetor. I have ran nothing but ethanol free gasoline through the Weber 32/36. The truck averages about 25 miles per gallon at 75 mph. The truck definetly has the pantina style exterior, due to being exposed to Texas sun for so many years. This truck is absolutely rust free. The undercarriage is remarkably spotless. The J in the VIN indicated that this truck was manufactured in Japan which supports the TEQ products found on the truck. I have been able to break every bolt loose with the ease of a wrench. The 4 tires that I replaced when purchased were installed in 1994. They had no treadwear, just dried and cracked.
In the past 4 months I have replaced the following parts with OEM/TEQ products:
4 new tires
Front brakes (original rotors in great shape)Rear wheel cylinders (shoes and drums in great shape)
Fuel sending unit
Marker lights
Front bumper with valeSending unitClutch slave cylinderCarburetor/Intake (previously stated)Rearview mirror
The shortfalls of the truck is the dash board has 3 small cracks toward the windshield and the passenger side of the bench seat has 2 tears on the vertical section. The temperature sending unit is unplugged, only because I have not been able to find a way to run the wire from the module to the sending unit cleanly. Other than that, this truck is immaculate. I have a 52 mile drive, each way to work, and it runs as straight and efficient on the highway as one would desire. This is a great truck to either use a daily driver, cruise in the evening, or pickup supplies for the garden.
The only reason why I am selling this truck is because I can no longer fit 3 trucks in my driveway, so this will be the first to go.
Thanks!
