1989 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 Barn Yard Find Project Fixer Upper Restore Additional Info:
This is a 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 with original 242k miles. We bought this truck in order to use it as a parts truck for our other FJ62 we were restoring but when it arrived we realized this truck is in much better shape than expected and it could be potentially restored and didn’t have the heart to tear it apart! This truck is complete and ran when it was parked about 3 years ago. We tried to start it and it starts up if you spray fuel into the intake. I have uploaded a video of it trying to start up. This truck is ideal for someone to buy and get it running and do the cosmetic repairs along the way or if you have the resources do a complete restore.
The interior of the truck is in in good shape. The interior is complete with no missing buttons or trims. The carpet and headliner are in excellent shape with no tears. The interior smells nice and clean with no weird odor or smell. It seems to have satellite radio and a new radio installed. `All the interior could really use is a good detail. Overall, the interior is good shape for it’s year.
The exterior of the truck has seen better days. But it is really just missing paint. All the doors and hood all align great. The body is straight. All the windows, glass and lights are all crack free. The windshield has a few nicks and rock chips from being a 27 year old truck. The body panels don’t seem to have rust and I haven’t seen any parts of the body where rust holes have come through but the undercarriage does have visible rust. It could be just surface rust. I took a lot of photos of the underneath.
Mechanically, the truck is untested. When it was parked about 3 years ago, it did run. The condition of the transmission and engine now are unknown. When you spray starter fluid into the engine it does fire up. The brakes need immediate attention. The front left brake line seems to have a leak as there was visible leak from there. The front left tire also does not hold air. We can put on the spare if needed for towing. So it ran when parked but now the conditions are unknown.
This truck is a great parts candidate or restoration project. When we bought it 3 years ago and it ran. Our purpose was to use it as a parts car but we just didn’t have the heart to dismantle this classic. I have posted detailed 80+ photos and video of the Truck and engine running. I strongly encourage an inspection before purchase as it is very easy that I may have forgotten something.
