1969 Toyota Land Cruiser Origional Additional Info:
This is a great FJ40 for its age, I had a lot of funrebuilding it. It has a newly rebuilt carbureted Chevy Small block 350 with HEI ignition and a custombuilt aluminum fan shroud. I converted it to a 3 speed TH350 automatic transmission that only has 1000 miles on it since the complete rebuild and is a new torque converter. I included an off-road shift kit and used a Winters Sidewinder shifter. It has new drive lines. I rebuilt the transfer case becauseit is a little noisy but the gears are in great shape. I made customaluminum hex shifter handles for personality. I wrapped the exhaust tubes from the headers to the muffler to decrease the heat on the floor boards and it worked great. The breaks work perfectly. It has power steering. The tires are nearly new 35" BFG mud terraintires and aluminum wheels and 1.5" hub extenders. It drives perfectly straight, the control arms are all very tight. The last owner did a spring over axle conversion with new leaf springs and shackles. They did a great job. And it has a full roll cage. I completely gutted the electrical and rewired it with a new painless wiring harness. All the accessories are functional and rewired with new switches except for the windshield wipers and headlights they are original. I installed new LED brake/blinker lights and the reverse lights are small spotlights. Here is a list of new items I installed; new battery, new instrument cluster and went with a Kilometer per hour for some personality, a windshield washer squirt system which is a major improvement, an MTX Bluetooth boat tower waterproof speaker amplifier system, new 3 speed “Hot Rod Heater” that is awesome and new side mirrors. The interior is coated with truck bed liner that matches the exterior. It has a reserve gas tank thatis dash switch controlled. The windshield spotlights are functional. It has a Warn winch that looks as if it has never been used for recovery because the cable is not frayed at all, bikini and full soft top that is not new but in great condition, new doors that convert to half doors, new side mirrors and an Aroogahorn. This is my fun rig to bounce around town like runs to home depot and the park, I have never taken it off road. I did all the work myself, I have restored threeFJ40's. I am a machinist and all my work is meticulous and Ido not cut corners. I had three of these in my youth and wanted a project. There is a small leak where the fill tube goes into the transmission it just needs the seal replaced, I think I nicked it during assembly. I have all the parts for the parking brake that goes on the rear driveline exceptfor the handle that mounts to the dash. I never got around to complete that but since it is an automatic I wasn't motivated to finish it. Some of the pictures show that it had an elaborate push bar on the front bumper. I removed it because it looks a lot cleaner. Although I put a heater in it I never drove it in the winter or in the snow, it just lived in my garage. I do not know the complete milage, but at this age it doesn't matter. But I have only driven it 1000 miles since I finished all this work
