This FJ40 started out its 41 year old life in Portland, Oregon being purchased August 8, 1975. It was stored in the environmentally controlled garage of a local classic Porsche collector. The original owner traded it in on another Porsche in Richmond, Virginia. I purchased the vehicle from this dealership November 21, 2013, had it transported in an enclosed carrier to Tucson, Arizona. I purchased it with 35,872 miles on it. I have driven it only 1928 miles since.
My only reason for selling it is I’ve ordered a custom built Land Rover Defender from a custom restoration shop in the UK.
Paint, seats, door seals, exterior body sheet metalwork and interior surfaces and controls are in excellent condition. Everything on the vehicle works just as it did when it rolled off the assembly line. There are a few minor dings and a scratch on the cargo area edge under the ambulance doors. There is some minor rust on the inside corner of the passengers door.
I have made one upgrade to new Heavy Duty Warn Locking Hubs (OEM from Toyota). The original ones are fine and included in the sale, I just wanted to beef them up. There are fewer than 200 miles on them. I have made only 2 minor modifications to the vehicle which can be easily removed for the purist who wants a true stock FJ40.
Regarding maintenance, when I took delivery I had all the fluids flushed and changed along with all filters. I replaced all 4 wheel cylinders and the front brake pads. Tires have fewer than 4000 miles on them.
Vehicle starts and runs beautifully –every time and always!
I had the top repainted to the factory specification Cygnus White last month and the running boards painted to the factory specification Dune Beige at the same time.
I have replaced the folding rear seat straps with new OEM straps.
I replaced the 4X4 stick shifter vinyl boot and metal plate with a new OEM one (see pic).
This stunning example of a Land Cruiser classic is equipped with the auxiliary heater in the cargo area and has rubber mats in the driver’s, passengers, and cargo areas.
I will assist the buyer in securing an appropriate auto transport company to deliver the truck to your location.
