1980 Toyota Land Cruiser fj40 Land Cruiser Additional Info:
Pure hesitation as I type this so please forgive my lack of enthusiasm. Up for sale is my 1980 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. I have owned this for about 5 years now. I swore I would never sell it but life has a funny way of dictatingotherwise. I purchased this off an elderly gentleman in Montana who was the second owner. Iliterally begged him to sell it to me about once every other month. Finally he agreed and I did to him what was unthinkable. I jumped in it and drove 1,872 miles to my hometown in KY. I will saythat driving that far with no cruise control is miserable but other than that not a problem one. This cruiser cruised at 65mph the whole way and we have been together ever since. For the most part the cruiser has been my daily driver off and on until last year. I was on a gravel road out in the country and it was wet. I came around a corner to fast and slid into a tree and got the front bumper. I decided that I was going to order a big 4 plus bumper instead of the flimsy little factory bumper but never got around to it. She needs a bumper. I decided that I needed to fix the brakes so I wouldn't have any issues of stopping. I removed the front brakes and bought new calipers, new wheel cylinders and new brake lines for both front and rear axles. I also rebuilt the front axle knuckles. Here is where the fun begins. They onlysent me 3 of the 4 wheel cylinders so I am missing one. Three of them are installed on the rear. I was going to replace all brake lines on the axles but somehow those got thrown away in the garage other than the two pieces on the right rear I started with. So….. This truck is notdrivable as it sets. NO BRAKES! You will have to purchase one wheel cylinder and newbrake pads. I think I still knowwhere the front calipers are if my wife hasn't chucked them, buyer can have them if located. Between a home remodel and trying to keep up with my 18 month old daughter I no longer have free time. My poor cruiser has been setting for almost a year and started occasionally to keep the cob webs out. I see no way of getting in the garage and finishing this anytime soon and I feel my cruiser deserves better. Plus with the baby and the remodel, I need the money (real reason). I put a hell for stoutsuspension on it along with 33x10.50x15 BFG All terrain tires since I have had it. I like the tall skinny look. They set well on the factory steel wheels. Hubcaps can be hadonline for like $100. The front seats are in good shape and the rear seats need recovering. I never sat back there so it didn't bother me. This cruiser still sports her original grayvinyl floor mat both front and rear. She also has her original AM radio. I never had the heart to cut it out to put a cd player in it. I love theoriginality she has carried throughout the years, classic old school. The patina on the paint lets you knowshe's been around the block. I know there is many more years to come with the new owner. She does have some rust in the rear sill and the driver side floor pan (very common for this year). I was going to address these later on down the road for they didn't hinder herdrivability. There is dings and dents, scrapes and scuffs, chips and blemishes in her but I love her for she never let me down. I know you aren'tsuppose to grow attached to material things but this is one vehicle Itruly love. You will also find dog hair here and there from my St. Bernard (god rest her soul) who use to traveleverywhere with me. I tried to clean it out but it always reappears, guess it's her way of saying hi. So if you have read this farthen you realize that this is one veryspecial cruiser to me. She's not perfect but you will be hard pressed to find a better one. If you can fix brakes, live with random dog hairs, and treasurer this cruiser then you might have just found,THE ONE!
At this time, I would like to introduce to you: CRABBY ------- yes that is her name. :) She is located in Glasgow KY 42141. She is 1.5 hours north of Nashville TN or south of Louisville KY.Come see her and crawl over and under her. She won't bite. I don't know what she is worth so I have decided to do a no reserve auction. I assume ebay knows values better than anyone. I do ask that if you don't have the money, please don't bid. If I didn't need the money then Crabby would never be up for sale. Come check her out anytime before the auction ends. Send a mechanic or friend, whatever you like. I will help with coordinating shipping if you are out of town but she must be paid in full before she leaves my garage. I want a $500 nonrefundabledeposit from the winning bidder within 24 hrs after the auction ends via Paypal. After that I willaccept cash in person or a wire transfer for the balance. No checks! Crabby is sold as is where is. Thanks for reading and good luck. Crabby is excited to meet you!
