1977 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 Additional Info:

Hello you guys. I am selling a 1977 BJ40 DIESEL from my Land Cruiser collection. No issues at all with this cruiser. VIN NUMBER 17616090922. Well taken care of, garaged and maintained at all times. The Cruiser is TITLED and REGISTERED in California. The TITLE is CLEAR TITLE, the cruiser does NOT require a smog inspection in California and is currently registered until July of 2017. You WILL be able to re-register and Title this BJ40 anywhere. No issues.I was very fortunate to find this Land Cruiser in Northern California. The previous owner did not have it long. His friend in Costa Rica was able to obtain it from the owner of a wonderful old Coffee Plantation. It was NOT a work vehicle. It was the owner of the plantations private collector cruiser, always garaged and maintained. As mentioned above,my BJ40 was an original "Purdy Motors" Land Cruiser. Mr. Purdy was the gentleman who originally introduced the Diesel Toyota Land Cruiser to Costa Rica. The interior Dash and Dash Pad still have the emblem from Purdy Motors attached. These are the kind of details that make this cruiser very rare. The BJ40 in 1977 came with a stock 4 cylinder "B" engine. Mine has great compression numbers. Engine compression just done last week and revealed 400 psi in all 4 cylinders. The cruiser does NOT smoke and Idles perfectly. The "B" series diesel motors are not fast on the road but extremely reliable and if properly maintained are known to go 500k miles. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR FAST,DON'T BUY A BJ40OR ANY DIESEL LAND CRUISER. They are extremely rugged though and can climb anything. Torque and reliability just amazing on these things.Mine has 99419 miles on it although please note the cruiser's odometer registers in kilometers. These miles are accurate and the condition of the cruiser supports this. I did NOT restore this Land Cruiser, I only refreshed it. Itdid NOT need very much when it came from the Plantation.I will list below everything that I have done to it and maintain full disclosure so that the bidder can get an accurate picture of its condition. Please Note: I WILL have a Video up on this Ebay site by Sunday Evening for you to review. It will show a cold start, the cruiser in motion, a brief walk around and the cruiser at idle. Here are some of the details: * ALL fluids just changed out last week ( oil, filter, front and rear differential oil replaced, transmission and transfer case oil replaced and coolant replaced ) * All filler plug gaskets just replaced * Compression check just done * Valve Adjustment just done ( winning bidder should adjust valves every 8k miles ) * Although the seats were in wonderful condition when I purchased the cruiser the seams had come loose in numerous places so I just re-upholstered ALL SEATS AND PADDINGtwo weeks ago. The seat frames themselves are all original stock from 1977 and in wonderful condition The Land Cruiser is in all STOCK condition just like from factory in 1977 * The paint is in wonderful condition, does NOT need to be repainted, even up close, looks very nice, very acceptable andpresentable* The cruiserhas ZERO cancer rust and will last for many more years if kept indoors. The paint is TOYOTA FACTORY MULETA RED CODE T-1454, a beautiful Peruvian Red, very similar to the old Porsche Targa's from the seventies * BRAND NEW BFGOODRICH 32 x 11.50 x 15 All Terrain T/A x 5 tires * FiveBrand New Original Stock Land Cruiser Steel Wheels just purchased 2 weeks ago from Toyota and then Sand Blasted and Powder Coated back to original Toyota Grey * Brand New wheel Caps from Specter Off Road here in Southern California * Undercarriage just repainted with VHT Drive Train Enamel which will help protect the cruiser over the years to come * New Thermostat and Gaskets purchased from Specter Off Road * PLEASE NOTE: This Diesel Cruiser was shipped from Japan to Costa Rica and was known as the "Tropical" version BJ40. This meant no heater was added. I WILL install a brand new aftermarket heater at no expense to the winning bidder. I have waited though to see who wins the auction because I can also offer a combination AC / HEATER if the winning bidder wants to pay for the AC and extra labor for my crew to install it. I will cover the hours involved for the heater though and give credit where credit is due. I do realize that some folks might want an AC.I just want to be fair to the buyer. The process for Heater install will only take a few days * BRAKES operate as they should * No issues with CLUTCH * No issues with ELECTRICAL * No issues with "B" Diesel Engine and if properly maintained will last the buyer a long time * ALL lights work properly * ALL Dash Gauges work properly * 4 wheel Drive engages easily, both Hi and Low * NO issues with the 4 Speed Stock Transmission. The Transmission in these BJ Land Cruisers are extremely stout, very reliable * The Land Cruiser has ZERO CANCER RUST and has never had any cancer rust. Good solid cruiser, well maintained and kept garaged * Steering is tight with no issues * Front Hubs engage properly *ALL receipts that I have will be transferred to the winning bidder * The Cruiser does NOT leak. PLEASE NOTE: I have owned over 38 Land Cruisers since 1975with one of my restorations making it into the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum so I am very familiar with LandCruisers and buy themvery carefully for my collection. I have also ownedseveral B, 2B and 3B diesels so rest assured that I will be passing along a good cruiser to you. These engines are extremely reliable and I have NUMEROUS CONNECTIONS for parts if you ever need them. Very simple. No worries. Folks worry about parts when considering the purchase of one of these Diesel Cruisers. Please DO NOT worry. They are available and ez to find. I am more than happy to assist and do it all the time. Folks, the cruiser needs nothing. It is ready to go anywhere in my opinion. I would drive this Land Cruiser to Alaska tomorrow with my family with no worries and as mentioned, if properly maintained you will not have any issues with it. These BJ40 Land Cruisers are extremely reliable and extremely rugged and stout. You can go anywhere in these things. I am happy to report though that this cruiser was never abused, very seldom off road and the FRAME, UNDERCARRIAGE, MOTOR MOUNTS, BODY MOUNTS AND ENTIRE CRUISER is in excellent condition. No issues whatsoever. You can drive it full time right now. Nothing has to be done to it at the moment. I may have missed mentioning some things but will log them in if I think of anything else. I can't give the cruiser away as I have a lot invested in it but I have set the Reserve fairly based on its rarity and condition and will try to give the buyer a bit of equity. I try my best to be fair when selling one of my cruisers. I just want them to go to the right people. Please bid with confidence. ANY questions you might have please contact me. ANY additional pictures you may need please contact me. I offer full disclosure. I do have a few letters of recommendation from folks who have purchased from my collection in the past and will pass them along to you if youwish to review. Just email me.As mentioned I will have a video posted on this site by Sunday evening. Thanks, Dave Woolley

Hello you guys, I received these questions and tried to post them below in Question-Answer section but they did not post so here they are if your interested.

Does the diesel have a turbo charger?
Where is it located?
do all knobs and switches work?
How long to put heater in?

Hello B,,,,,,,,,,1) The Cruiser is stock and is not "turbo charged". Please note that the "B" series diesels were never factory turbo charged from Toyota and will NOT hold up as long if they do get turbo charged. That process reduces their life. So, if your looking for a "B" engine that is turbo charged be careful and be sure to have it checked out closely before you purchase it. As mentioned, MINE is NOT TURBO and will last a very long time if properly maintained. The "B" series engines ( B, 2B and 3B ) will go 500k miles if properly maintained and left in Factory Stock condition. 2) The Cruiser is located here in Temecula, California where I live. 3) Yes, all knobs and switches do work. 4) If you win the auction and opt to just have the heater put in at my expense it will only take 2 days to do that. If you win the auction and decide you want to pay extra for the added AC also then it will only take a day extra. Thanks for your interest.
