Offer for sale is a 1985 Toyota extended cab 4x4 pickup truck that has a non-running small block Chevrolet motor and automatic transmission in it. I believe this to be an original automatic 4x4 pickup.
This is a project vehicle. Somebody might even want it just for parts.
It is not turn key and will require a lot of work to get it back on the road. The motor, transmission and transfer case need pulled and gone thru beforeputting themback on the road. I have never tried to get the motor to start and it has not ran in over 11 years. I have not checked to see if it is seized up.
I seem to recall that the previous owner told me this was a relatively low-miler crate motor but I can not verify that. I never really cared because my intent was to put this back to near stock
I bought this truck approximately 11 years ago when I got back from a trip to Iraq. I brought it back to Iowa where it has sat behind my garage. A branch fell out of my tree, slightly denting the hood and roof and cracking the windshield. Life happens, ideas change and I’m not going to get to it in the immediate or short term future and have decided it is time to sell it to someone else with more time, patience or deeper wallet than I. I have never heard the motor run or drove it.
The frame is straight and without anyrust issues. The body is fairly straight with some obvious body work on the passenger side of the extended cab.. The doors have no significant rust. Door gaps are decent. The box does have some minor rust holes that are fixable; one near the gas cap and a couple inside the bed. The bed has a few extra holes from what was probably an over the rail tool box and a roll bar. The tailgate is in good shape with a only a couple of very small rust holes on the lower inside where they always seem to rust bad. The tailgate latch needs some attention.
At some point in its life, the passenger front fender was damaged. It’s probably fixable but it has damage low by the door. The fender flares try to hide it, but it is there. There was minor damage done to the radiator support on the passenger side but it appears to of been straightened out. The front inner fenders have been cut on to provide more clearance for oversized tires.
The interior is trashed. The dash is cracked and missing some pieces and has some aftermarket gauges coble-crafted into it. The carpet and padding is gone. One door panel is gone missing and the other looks like it was spray painted with the same cheap black lacquer paint that the body was painted with. The door glass and rear slider are OK. The windows do roll up and down. The two seats that come with it are not original Toyota pickup; the brackets do not match up to the floor. You can have them or leave them with me.
The ignition lock is out of the tilt steering wheel. I have no idea how much of the original wiring is present or how much was discarded or modified to make the SBC work. There is no radio.
I do not know the manufacture of the suspension and body lift or how many total inches of lift there are. The rear differential geometry has been changed to better line up to the transfer case due to the lift. I think there were 35’s on it when I bought it. There will be a set of tires on the vehicle when the buyer comes to trailer it away. It will roll. The tires/rims in the picture will probably not be the ones you get.
I do not believe the previous owner used this as a 4x4. I think it was just some jacked up street machine that he tooled around central California. There was not a front driveshaft when I bought it and there is no way to engage the transfer case. I do have the rear drive shaft.
I have a clear Iowa title in my name.
Reasonable start with no reserve. I will not end the listing early. Please try to pay me promptly. Please have the permission of your significant other before bidding.
I am happy to answer questions and send you as many pictures as you want of specific areas of the truck. The truck is near Cedar Rapids, Iowa and you are welcome to come look at it before you bid. I am not in a hurry to get it out of my yard but I would like it gone before December unless we make prior arrangements before you bid. IF you wanted me to deliver, we could probably work something out.
Again, this is a non-running, non-original project vehicle with a non original drive line and many trim and minor parts are missing. It’s not moved under it’s own power in over 10 years. It's got great potential butis not for the faint of heart.
