Toyota Hilux Rock Crawler
Hello everyone! Up for sale (This week only) is a very dependable and street legal 1982 Toyota Pickup Truck. I have been given an opportunity to list it, and I am giving it a go. The title is in my name and my name only, and the car is located right here in 21042 (Ellicott City, Maryland). To start off, this truck was once a simple light duty truck, but now it is a fully grown four wheel drive machine. This generation of pickups is very well known in the off road community, and some claim that it is the "greatest four wheel drive" system ever made. I will not attest to it, but I will say that this car I've got for sale will be a very good addition for anyone for trail or daily driving use. As you can see, it has been heavily modified with desirable parts.
Engine and Suspension
To start off I will list the drive train and suspension features. This car was originally a carb'ed 22r, but around 6000 miles ago the entire drive train was changed. It currently is housing a fuel injected 22re engine. These engines are known for reliability, and the rebuilt engine does have the much needed metal timing chain rail on the drivers side as shown in the pictures.Furthermore, the 5 speed appears to be rebuilt at the same time. The clutch is very strong, and it shifts through all gears smoothly. It also has a 100% functioning dual transfer case installed correctly. Adding to that the car is equipped with a newly installed CS-144 150 amp GM alternator. There is not a drop of coolant in the valve cover as shown.
Other included mechanical parts and accessories:
1. Surplus Center Hydraulic Steering Stabilizer
2. GM Alternator Bracket from Trail Gear
3. Lift kit with shackles (Not 100% sure of the lift size)
4. Appears to have re-geared axles since it moves the 35 inch tires like a Prius moves 4 lugs
5. New power steering pump? It's bright orange and the hoses do loop around to the Steering Stabalizer, Moves the wheels without issue.
6. Adjustable idler switch on the shifter
Summary of the drive-train: It starts up and drives like a brand new car! I have owned the vehicle since August with intentions to go crawl, but I have yet to put a drop of mud on it. The car DOES NOT LEAK ANYTHING! It does 70+ MPH on the highway without issue. No wobble from the wheels! The car has 4 "Wrangler" 35 inch tires with a DOT year dating back to 2012. They hold air just fine, and have about 80% tread left. One of them does feature some rock rash, but it holds air at a 35 PSI constant just fine. A spare 35 inch tire is included and can be mounted on the roll cage or on the bed. It is not the same "Wrangler" tire though, and it does not feature the same amount of tread as the ones on the car. Under the hood there appears to be a small shoe compressor, but it is not attached to any visible wiring. A PSI hose is included in the bed. An extra transmission housing and parts is included. A second set of motor mounts and 2 transmission mounts are also included!
Exterior
This car was initially red, but at some point down the road it was repainted tan. To be honest, it is nowhere near museum condition. It simply makes the car identifiable. Other features on the exterior include the fully custom roll cage, front tube bumper that houses a winch, rear tube bumper, high lift jack, working light bar and side lights, non working fog lamps, plate holders, and what would appear to be a new windshield. There is some surface rust in various areas of the car, but it is only surface rust. There are no areas on the frame or body that would need any repairs. It's straight as a meter stick. The "trail" lights (Lights on the bed and the light bar) are wired to the dashboard via switch. The only lights on the exterior that do not work are the tail lights, and the fog lights up front. The light bar is brand new. Whoever made the roll cage and bumpers definitely knew what they where doing. They add a very aggressive look to the car. The doors are easily removable as well. A second set of doors, a hitch bike rack and a set of kayak mounts are also included. The bed also has a 50 cal ammo box which has spare car fluids inside. An extinguisher and a tow cable are also included. Basically, whatever is attached to the car in the photographs IS included with the car. The front shocks appear to be new, the ones in the rear are good but fairly rusted.
Interior
The interior of the car is about the same shape as the exterior. There is no heat or A/C either. The fuel gauge, speedometer, check engine, malfunction and "charge" light all work. The dash light and temp gauge does not work. The seats appear to be brand new, no tears or blemishes. The console is a 50 cal ammo box. Glove box opens and closes as advertised. Metal custom made dash holds a single din pioneer blue tooth radio and several switches. There is also a fosgate 4 channel amplifier wired under the seat. The sound system is relatively new, and does feature an AUX setting. The 3 blue rocker style switches are not attached to any wiring. The two on the left control the fog and trail lights. 12v Accessory is not wired to anything. Overall, for a trail car you can't ask for anything better!
