1988 Suzuki Samurai Hardtop - Model JL - "1988½"

Overview: Up for auction is my well-maintained 1988 Suzuki Samurai hardtop. This model, known as the "1988½" or "1988.5" Samurai, is in good condition and comes with a remarkable set of features. With just 62,456 miles on the odometer, this reliable car is a joy to drive. It has served me faithfully during my 5-mile daily commute down the 101 freeway in Los Angeles. Now, it's time for me to pass the torch to a new owner who will appreciate this classic.

Features:

  • Year: 1988
  • Make: Suzuki
  • Model: Samurai JL
  • Mileage: 62,456 miles
  • Body Style: Hardtop
  • Color: Silver

Condition:This Samurai is in good overall condition, and it retains its original engine, silver body paint, fender flares, and a removable/foldable rear seat. The AC blows cold!

I have had no issues passing smog in California. It has a clean title, Carfax report, and no rust.

I will include its original owner's manual and a spiral-bound service manual.

Modifications and Extras:

  • Suspension: The car was previously lifted by its original owners, but I have since restored it to its stock height and installed Old Man Emu OME leaf springs for improved handling and comfort.

  • Wheels: The original stock wheels were swapped out for American Racing wheels 15".
  • Safety: A complete roll bar was professionally installed, ensuring your peace of mind during off-road adventures.
  • Audio: The car features a new Kenwood Bluetooth stereo system and speakers.
  • Interior: I added factory dealership heavy-duty driver and passenger floor mats.
  • Convenience: For added convenience, I've included a factory center console cup holder from India, a rare feature that only came with international Jimny models.

  • Exhaust: The car boasts a new exhaust pipe, contributing to improved performance and efficiency.
  • Steering: Professionally installed new tie rod and drag link for improved steering.
  • Tires: New all-terrain tires, driven 5,000 miles
  • Personalized Touch: If you're a California resident, you'll have the opportunity to keep the fun personalized LILZUKI license plate.

    Notes on Condition:

The previous owners said that most of the car's miles were accumulated while being towed behind an RV. Indeed, the hood has a dent from an aftermarket tow bar, but otherwise, the vehicle's interior and exterior are in good condition. It was not used for serious off-roading - the original owners used it primarily "to access difficult-to-access campsites and vistas in the Southwest."
    • -Missing front Suzuki emblem but I have a replacement to include in the sale.
    • -Driver seat has a tear in the vinyl.
    • -Roof's original paint is starting to show signs of sun fading.

Service History: The car's service is up to date, happy to provide documentation.

Final Thoughts: This 1988 Suzuki Samurai is a rare gem, embodying the spirit of adventure and reliability that the model is known for. Whether you're seeking a classic car to enjoy daily commutes or you're a seasoned off-roader looking for your next thrill, this Samurai fits the bill.

Bid with confidence, as I've taken great care of this vehicle. If you have any questions or would like to see it in person, please reach out. Happy bidding!
