1986 Subaru XT AWD Turbo Additional Info:
This is an amazing and rare opportunity for every Subaru fan and collector out there. You are bidding on a 1986 Subaru XT Coupe AWD Turbo five speed. The car is an original survivor and great candidate for restoration. When it comes to the XT, this is the most highly optioned car possible and most iconic year for the car. Outside of being the forefather of the WRX and Subaru's first AWD Turbo rally car, the XT possesses unique styling and design including the aviation inspired cockpit with digital dash that was only available in 1986. On top of all that, try to find another example with a period Kanimara body kit and Enkei four lug gold mesh racing rims... you won't.
Besides the history, the car runs strong and displays well for its age. I have always been a die hard Subaru fan and had bought the car in hopes of one day doing a full restoration, but as you can tell by the other vehicles in my garage, a 1.8L boxer engine is much different to work on then a Chevy 350 small block. Since being purchased the car has been stored in a heated garage and never exposed to the New England elements, I had purchased the car from the West Coast. Mechanically the engine and car as a whole run strong. I myself have not registered the vehicle in Massachusetts but the previous owner did have the vehicle registered and driving on the road the past two years. Since then, I have been firing the car up on a weekly basis taking it for joyrides around the block. Over prolonged periods of driving the car will begin to rise in temperature to one or two lines below the overheat line. When I initially purchased the car I had it assessed by a Subaru specialist and was told the car will need a water pump as it is leaking. Other than that, there are no mechanical faults to my knowledge with the car shifting beautifully with fluid acceleration. Cosmetically the car has small dings and dents throughout with a cracked front bumper. There is no major rust or rot anywhere on this car. The only issue is that there is minor rust where the sunroof is. When I purchased the car the entire roof had been flex sealed, this is because the roof has a minor leak and will need new gaskets and body filler if you want to fix it right. The interior is in great condition and was preserved very well compared to other examples. The digital cluster is in working order and the dash pad is mint with no cracking. Included with the sale of the car will be a dead mint pair of original front bucket seats and factory trip computer to replace the one in the car now. Install the seats and trip computer and you have a beautiful factory interior, all you need in a radio.
If you have any questions or require more photos please do not hesitate to ask. It pains me to sell this car but I have a 1968 Camaro and 1965 Corvette that are under restoration as well, and I need garage space. These cars are rarer than hen's teeth, let alone an awd turbo with period body kit. An investment for the future for sure. Five years from now you'll be happy to say you own this gem and I'll be the guy saying I remember when. The car is available for inspection, I am happy to make arrangements. I will find a way to create an album online with videos of the car running. I will update the description with a link.
The ACTUAL VIN number to the the car is JF2AX7588GD309738, for some reason eBay would not let me list the car with this in the VIN field due to the letters.
