Sadly these Rockne Roadster body types were favored by Hot Rod builders. There were five body types built to include a 7 passenger - 4 door convertible / touring car which none are known to exist. Available body types were the 2 door Roadster / deluxe Roadster, the 2 door Coupe / deluxe Coupe, the 2 door Sedan, the 4 door Sedan and the 4 door Touring car. NOTE: “deluxe models” boasted a spare tire on each side of the car with a luggage rack to the rear of the car.
HERE SOME INFORMATION I FOUND ON GOOGLE :
In 1932, Studebaker launched the Rockne, a new low-priced brand named for famed Notre Dame head coach Knute Rockne. However, the new company was based not in South Bend, home town for both Studebaker and Notre Dame, but in the venerable Studebaker complex on Piquette Ave. in Detroit. An all-new design, the car was originally created for Willys-Overland by a Detroit engineering firm as a replacement for the Whippet, but Studebaker bought out the project when Willys declared bankruptcy.
Studebaker fared little better as the country spiraled into depression. Studebaker CEO Albert A. Erskine committed suicide on July 1, 1933, while the Rockne division was disbanded that same year with barely 30, 000 units produced. A sound automobile by all accounts, the Rockne suffered from unbelievably bad timing.
Studebaker Corporation, or simply Studebaker, was a United States wagon and automobile manufacturer based in South Bend, Indiana. The Rockne car was a subsidiary of the Studebaker Motor Company and was built as Studebaker’s “affordable car” to help get Studebaker through the great depression of 1929. The Pierce Arrow line was Studebaker’s “high end car”.
Knute Rockne became the Studebaker spokesperson in 1930. Sadly; Knute Rockne was killed in an airplane accident in 1931 and the car's popularity rapidly diminished. The first Rockne car that came off the line in 1932 was presented to Mrs. Knute Rockne. The 1932 cars were labeled Rockne on the radiators cloisonné and on the tail lamp.. The 1933 Rockne’s cloisonné and tail lamp were labeled Studebaker Rockne. The car was phased out in 1933 due to its poor sales
GOOD LUCK WITH BIDDING !!!
