This 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk has been lightly modified and is a real sweet ride, having been set up as an excellent every day driver.
A California car from new this car has been tastefully mechanically modified from original with the addition of a 1963 R2 supercharger setup with correct carburetor. Hence, this car really gets up and moves. With the sports exhaust on it, the car sounds awesome. If you want a concourse car this is definitely not for you. However if you want a really excellent driver and fully functional supercharged car that you can enjoy instantly, then this car is definitely worth your consideration.
The original 289 cubic inch V8 motor has been replaced with a rebuilt 289 clover leaf replacement V8 with factory Supercharger from a 1963 / 1964 GT Hawk. This is coupled to a late model rebuilt automatic transmission. The performance is fantastic as this car really gets up and motors.
Repainted in Metallic Silver (which looks brown) with matching black interior.
If you want a super fun car to drive around that has some great options, then this is an ideal candidate worthy of your consideration.
I am selling this car on behalf of a friend of mine. See my other listings for other Studebaker's from this private collection.
This has been very nicely restored 5 to 10 years ago and has been set up for driving and to give you years of trouble free motoring.
Factory options include :-
The motor is strong and gets excellent oil pressure when warm. It shifts directly and beautifully with the automatic transmission.
Interior wise the car has been very nicely re-trimmed in black vinyl. Carpets have been replaced.
Paint wise the car is good. There are some bumps and light scuffs to the paint work. Most notably they are on the passenger side door.
The car is virtually 99% rust free with no evidence of rust repair. There are some light areas bubbling in the lower rear fenders, Right door and lower right fender. There is some light rust about the size of a silver dollar under the drivers footwell, but otherwise all floors and hog troughs are clean.
The ignition system has been bypassed with the addition of a starter button mounted on the handbrake. A replacement ignition switch and key is included for you to change over if you wish
The previous long term San Francisco owner of this car had 15 Studebaker's in his collection, all of which are similar to this car. All cars had nice options, re-trimmed interiors, recognized Studebaker upgrades and had a ton of money piled into them mechanically.
