1963 Studebaker Avanti Additional Info:

1963 Avanti R-2 was purchased from an auto museum. Had been on display or in climate-controlled storage since about 1979. Engine was stuck and supercharger was disconnected. Exterior hasn't been touched, only washed. All brightwork, bumpers, trim and so on are as delivered by Studebaker. I think the dealer added the side molding and fog lights which are not connected. Small scratch on lower right rear quarter panel. Some scratches on driver side rocker panel. All other items are in good to great condition. All glass perfect. Body is sound and has really good body panel alignment. Especially for an Avanti. Doors shut smooth and sure. Original bias ply tire still in floor. No leaks in the car when going through the wash. I believe the paint has been redone, in the original color, sometime in the past but is in good condition for a car this old.Interior mostly original. I had to replace the carpet and re-upholster the front seats. Removed a really gigantic 8 track/F-M unit from under the dash and speakers on rear deck. They are visible on a couple of the exterior photos but are no longer there. The old speakers on rear deck did leave small indentations but no holes. Radio is now a Retro Sound w/ Bluetooth. Dash speaker is Retro stereo. Rear 5x7 is Classic stereo speaker. USB jacks and voltmeter were added to ash tray. Power window systems were replaced with Nu-Relics and operate perfectly. Driver side interior door panel was expertly repaired where the old Studebaker actuators had tried to destroy it. All gages were removed cleaned, polished and checked. Clock worked on the bench but has since quit. I don't have any keys that fit the doors. Did not use the tractor battery. I truly hate them.Chassis is mostly original. Some small rust spots on rear of passenger side frame were repaired. Light surface rust has been treated. Torque boxes are good. Turner brakes were installed on front and new wheel cylinders on rear. New power booster and dual master cylinder installed. Transmission serviced and adjusted and works perfectly. Twin-Traction rear end with 3.73 ratio. Four new radial tires.Engine was removed and completely rebuilt as a strong standard in all sizes. Has flat top pistons and so is premium fuel only. This is a Keystone engine. RS2329. Distributer is an HEI system and alternator is a single wire internal regulator. Some circuit protection has been added. Stainless Steel Flex fan added. Paxton Supercharger has been rebuilt. The Paxton air intake was of my design. I believe it's an Air Raid item. Looks good to me. The original was not with the car.Notes:Car runs VERY well. Not a highway cruiser, over 3500 RPM at 80 due to 3.73 gearing, but will get to speed really quick! The chronic problem points of Studebakers, poor ignition, electrical, and unsafe brakes have been replaced with modern and reliable alternatives. I've found that a flex fan addition feels as though it adds 25 HP. A small hood scoop for cold air intake and no telling what it would do! This car is set up to use and enjoy.Concerning originality. If you prefer to take this car back to as built, all the hard parts that were replaced will be included at the listed or winning sale price if you want them.No modifications were made to body or dash and etc... that could not be undone. This will be a cash sale or a long lead time for even a cashier's check. Clear Texas title in my name. The body VIN is listed on the title. Very common with these cars. The actual frame VIN could easily be added to the title. Texas is easy on that, and I've done so a few times. This car will carry no warranty whatsoever.More than welcome to ask questions and to inspect.
