[isdntekvideo] 1963 Studebaker R-1 Gran Turismo HawkListed on behalf of the owner.Located near PORTLAND, OREGONThe Studebaker Hawk debuted in 1956, and in 1962 a radical re-design was created by Brooks Stevens. For 1963, the G.T. Hawk was offered with several engine options, borrowed from the Avanti. This car is powered by the R-1 "Jet Thrust" 289 cubic inch V-8 engine, which developed 225 horsepower from the factory. The previous owner bored the engine to 304 cubic inches and fitted it with R-3 pistons, increasing the horsepower to approximately 240 HP. Power is transferred to the 3.31:1 rear-end through a 4-speed manual transmission with floor shifter.I have personally driven this Hawk and it starts easily and runs smoothly, with plenty of power and it is FAST! Easily cruises at 75 mph. Factory front disc brakes stop smooth and straight. Radial whitewall tires.Repainted in correct "Ermine White" which presents beautifully today. Body is straight with excellent panel fit. Bright chrome and trim. The interior was influenced by European styling of the time, with curved woodgrain-finished dashboard and round gauges. AM radio. Upholstered in pleated deep red leatherette. Front bucket seats with seat belts. White headliner with chromed bows. Undercarriage is clean and rust-free throughout.PLEASE SEE PHOTOS THAT WERE JUST TAKEN FOR THIS LISTING AND SHOW CURRENT CONDITION.Only 3,649 G.T.
