Now accepting bids on this 1940 Studebaker Commander four-door sedan. This is a partially restored vehicle that had some work done in the early to mid 1990s at which point the frame was restored and painted as well as the brakes service, Additionally the dashboard gauges were restored but never placed back into the dashboard and some new parts were acquired for the vehicle. The vehicle then languished in a barn for some time before recently being removed and being offered for sale here.HIGHLIGHTS- painted and restored frame- beautiful original sun visors in great condition- very minimal rust, extraordinarily solid floorboards and trunk area/trunk lid including a exceptional toolbox compartment and lid- New Old Stock speedometer- restored and reconditioned radiator from the early 1990s (never used)- clean and recent title acquired in 2023- nearly all parts are included with the vehicle making for easy reference and restoration- comes with two engines, one is a 1939 Studebaker Commander 6 cylinder, the other is a 1950 Studebaker Commander six truck engine.- Rare accessory bumper guards still mounted on vehicle- All Glass is included (however some of it is cracked)Low Points- missing gas tank, tail light assemblies, trunk handle, door handles and headlight bucket assemblies ( other pieces may be missing but I cannot verify exactly all that is and is not in existence )- Vin plate is missing, it was deteriorated very badly and was of no use. A reproduction Vin plate can be acquired easily for about $100- neither engine that comes with vehicle is running however they are free and moving- transmission provided with vehicle is a three speed manual without OverdriveThis car would make a perfect project for an Enthusiast looking to undertake a complete restoration, would also make in a perfect candidate for a hot rod or custom vehicle. This vehicle could also be considered an exceptional unit for a parts car to an project already underway. Extraordinarily solid doors and trunk lid as well as floorboards and fenders makes this an easy vehicle to restore with minimal body work. Only real rot is in the sill plate area of the door openingsPlease be sure to inspect pictures closely let me know if you have any questions or if you need to know if a specific part comes with the vehicle I may be able to locate it and give you an firm yes or no
