1928 Studebaker Dictator Additional Info:
1928 Studebaker Dictator
Super rare barn find from historic section of town. In amazing condition considering it's almost 100 years old. I purchased this in 11/2022 with the intent of doing a restoration, but my circumstances have changed so posting for sale.
Car has original paintThere's some light surface rust but mostly rust free with original paint/patina. The bottom of the doors are probably the worst of it & they are still solid.Original wheels & period correct tires. Two spares & spare carrier surround included.Original glass Hand-crank mechanism for front flip-out windshield is missing parts Weather seal on front windshield brittleOriginal interior Missing several of the original window crank handles - some were provided by PO but unsure of originality Missing grab handles that would be on the rear of the front seat Right rear door ash tray is present but needs re-installed & may need additional parts All interior wood appears to be in great condition with no rot (A/B/C pillars, floors, etc - rot free) PO put mothballs in car prior to parking in barn...kept the mice out but will need cleaned to remove smellOriginal dash & guages I am told the odometer does not work but have not tested it Lights in cluster do illuminate when you turn on power ODO shows 35k No original key - 2nd keyswitch was installed & I have the keys for thatHand crank - not sure if original (or correct) to car6V positive groundOriginal motor/drivetrain < >< >< >< >< >Motor was re-built a few years ago & had hardened valve seats insatlled so it can run on pump gas Oil filter was replaced with a modern spin-on styleThe roof appears to have been replaced at one point & will likely need replaced again.
Last ran local parade & car shows in 2019 & has been parked since. The engine seems free & I have no reason to think it wouldn't run but have not started it.
Titled & registered. I have a ton of paperwork from the PO (including pictures/receipts/etc of motor rebuild work, etc), service manual, & the original owners manual (which is an extremely rare item). Located SE of Cleveland, OH.
$13,500 OBO.
