1955 Studebaker Commander Eight Conestoga Regal Additional Info:
I am putting my Studebaker up for sale because I am at retirement age and feel I can not afford to take the project to the next level of restoration. I have invested several thousand dollars in the last few years for parts and labor and have all the reciepts which I will describe later. I have owned the car for over 30 years and it has been in dry storage since then. The car still has the original paint job on it. I buffed it out when we took it out of storage a couple of years ago. The original block was blown and we replaced it with another 259 Studebaker from a 1958 Commander that was running good but had a bad body. My mechanic replaced the motor gaskets and transmission seals and painted the engine. The clutch is all brand new with resurfaced flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate and clutch release bearing. The car has overdrive and hill holder options. It is a Regal Conestoga which has the optional side chrome trim. All of the brake lines and metal fuel lines have been replaced and wheel and master cylinder on the brakes were rebuilt. The car comes with an extra set of 259 heads, 12 volt starter, alternator and electric fuel pump that came with the 1958 Commander parts car should you want to convert it to 12 volt system. Also included would be a 1955 shop and owners manual and the original carb and intake manifold from the original motor. The only issue right now is that I am having a problem getting fuel to the engine. Not getting fuel to the plastic fuel filter between the fuel pump and the carb, New mechanical fuel pump but not pumping to the carb and the gas tank has a small seam leak if you fill the tank more than half full. The tank is still solid enough to be repaired. we had the tank off and flushed after sitting 30 years. Also have a drivers side floorboard to replace the original which has a hole in the middle of the floorboard above the master cyl. filler cap. the passenger floorboard should also need replacing in the future. Other than that the rest of the car is pretty solid for a 63 year old car and The car is very rare only a few thousand of the regal models were produced in 1955.The last picture of the 10 was when we first took the car out of 30 years storage and as you can see a slight rust around drivers side air vent on the front fender. Also the interior is all original, no holes or tears in front or rear seats. You will probably never see another one at any car show no matter how big . Thanks for looking.
