During this period in America’s automotive history, anufacturers offered models an array of beautiful pastel exteriors. This stylish Hawk was no exception finished in an attractive factory color– Jade Green–the only year Studebaker used this color. Combined with a rich Forest green cloth, rilliant aluminum and chrome trim, ssured the owner of this stunning Coupe it would not be lost in the “Coral” sea.
For 1960, tudebaker dropped the Silver part of the name, eaving “just plain” Hawk. Largely unchanged externally from the 1959, nternally, he major change was the return of the 289 cubic inch V8 last used in 1958. This was the only engine available for U.S. orders in both 1960 and 1961, he last year of the finned Hawk. The 1961 models saw the limited return of a second paint color, eige, n a stripe along the base of the fin between the two lower moldings. Interiors gained the option of wide, omfortable bucket seats.
Finished in a period correct Jade Green (# 6113), his coupe shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Contrasting Beige trim panel (only for 1961) on the rear fenders. All the trim is present, omplete, right and displays minimall wear. The front and rear bumpers fit is extremely tight and finish is exquisite. The front grill(s) are in excellent condition with only very small marring. The weather-stripping is pliable, ith little or no signs of drying, earing or shrinkage. The rear windows offer the “pop out” feature to aid in ventilation. The original 15-inch steel wheels present well with only slight signs of marring.
Inside, he rich Forest Green front bucket and rear seats with silver piping appear with normal with virtually no wear spots visible. The matching green door panels, arpet and dashboard (which shows some wear on the top) are a continuation of the striking Forest Green interior of the car and look fantastic. All gauges housed in the excellent “machined turned” panel are ergonomically place have correct appearance and function as originally designed. The originally equipped Studebaker steering wheel is in excellent condition and heater and original equipment AM push-button radio all function as designed. Included is the original owner’s manual.
This nicely presented Studebaker is equipped with a 2 barrel carbureted 289 cid V8 engine, ated to a 2-speed automatic transmission, ower steering and drum brakes. The wheels are 15-inch original Studebaker rims and full hub caps with B.F. Goodrich wide whitewall tires.
