Owners Description

The 1700-hour rotisserie, ground up build used a very rare GT 2+2 donor car with Special Handling Package. Only 559 of these cars so equipped were produced out of some 560,000 total Mustangs built in 1965. This car as equipped was used as the donor car for the GT350 R.

What makes Cobra a “one-of-one” build is that she is Shelby built by Brad Hornbaker a Shelby certified career Ford Special Vehicles Team trained Master Service Technician who serviced his Ford dealership’s Shelby and Saleen cars.

Cobra is purpose built to dominate SCCA’s newest Autocross class: “Classic American Muscle.” Competitive Autocross cars must be able to aggressively “accelerate, brake and handle.”

Cobra is a 4 second 0-60 super car!!! The power needed to achieve such a stunning 0-60 time comes from a Prestige Motorsports custom built 347 Stroker making 450 HP and 427 lbs. torque. The car’s 2269 lbs. also supports such performance. Cobra’s aluminum powertrain and drivetrain components enabled a 250 lb. weight reduction enabling a 50-50 weight distribution. Shelby would be proud!!

Cobra uses “active aerodynamics” to create downforce. You will not see another Mustang with Peter Brock’s aero front fascia and air dam that accelerates air up and over her 450 HP 347 Stroker and feeds cool air thru her vertical brake scoops connected to hand formed aluminum brake ducts that travel along her front frame rails back to her big Wilwoods.

Cobra also wears Peter Brock’s air dam that creates a high pressure zone in front of the dam and a low pressure behind the dam that sends air up and over the engine and accelerates air under the car that when combined with slower air moving over the top of the car creates downforce. The rear also wears modern “diffusers” to pull from under the car reducing vortex drag.

While Cobra stands out from other GT350R cars, her new flashy livery by Florida’s Wicked Paint has people doing double takes. Cobra radiates rainbows from her Paint with Pearl’s Silver Holographic metal flake infused into her House of Kolor Show Quality Kosmic Klear. And if her metal flake rainbows fail to grab you, her black Le Mans stripes bordered in orange will make one rub their eyes in disbelief. And those stripes are not just an after thought!! They are worn by the seventh GT350 R SFM5R098, the only GT350 R to wear her sponsor Essex Wire’s corporate racing team colors!!
