Love this car, but don't get it out of the garage as much as I'd like. It's time to let somebody else experience the thrill that comes with piloting a head-turning, street-legal guided missile that goes exactly where you point it.
Many extras and recent $$$ upgrades. Just keep in mind that this car is very fast, and loud, and if you need cupholders and AC, it isn't for you. The only music it plays comes from the two sidewinder (partially muffled) exhaust pipes, and to get in and out you step over the "doors," not through them. There's no top! It's a true roadster, so have a garage ready (or a cover, which comes with the car).
The basics:
-
The builder worked for Factory Five and the famous Factory Five team itself is said to have been involved in the project. A lot of people do good builds, but I don't think it gets any better than having Factory Five experts involved.
- Fuel-injected Ford 302 (which I believe to be more civilized and better handling than a 427 due to less weight in the front).
- Tremac 5-speed transmission.
- Trickflow components throughout.
- Horsepower estimated at 400.
- Full roll cage, a $4500 option.
- Quick release steering wheel.
-
Factory Five 17-inch Halibrand replica race wheels, $2000 option.
-Upgraded racing suspension, $4500 option.
- Titled as a 1965 Antique in Pennsylvania (No inspection, no hassles!)
- Everything works: Turn signals, horn, lights, etc.
- Build was said to exceed $80K.
- Front/rear brake bias adjuster on dash.
Recent upgrades, many by a master race car/replica builde in Newark Delaware:
- New interior carpeting.
- New dash panel and covering.
- New layout for gauges in the dash.
- Clutch and brake pedals spaced out: Not as good for heel-and-toe but much more comfortable street driving.
- Replaced fuel sending unit; gas gauge works perfectly.
- Added insulation to firewall.
- Replaced engine/wiring harness.
- Configure and install new cold air intake and rerouted upper radiator hose to assure good performance in hot weather. (It works, I've driven it on very hot days).
- Changed oil and filter.
- Master builder went over car inside and out and top to bottom (see body off picture) to assure performance, reliability and longevity.
- Replaced pinion seal.
- Replaced front crank seal.
- Upgraded lower radiator hose.
What else: It looks sensational, runs great and starts easily every time, but there are a few stone pockmarks on the rear fenders that the previous owner painted over. I think it looks fine, but wanted to disclose. Will send pics of that and more overall pics ASAP.
