1963 Shelby Cobra Aurora GRX Additional Info:

This marvelous 1981 Aurora GRX Cobra #52 is painted with Imron paint Ferrari Red with a Rolls Royce leather tan interior. Built by Aurora Cars Limited in Ontario, Canada is one of approximately 173 built. These hand built and assembled cars featured a steel tubularframe with fully independent suspension as well as four-wheel disc brakes. The rear brakes are inboard. The Aurora Cobras were U.S. DOT safety compliant in all 50 states. The "slab side" 289 Cobra body was constructed of fiberglass by C&C Yacht Corp. the strongest cobra body out there. The mold was made from Shelby's own #13 aluminum cobra, rumor has it. They were sold new through select Ford dealerships throughout the US and Canada for $35,000.00 which in today's dollars is about $90,000.00.The second owner bought this car in 1990 and wanted to race it.He did a complete rebuild taking everything apart. Powder coated the frame, he spent over $20,000.00 on giving his 5.0 over 450 bhp. He also changed out the 4 speed trans. to a 5 speed and got rid of extra weight, like the heater, radio, windshield wiper motor etc. And after all that he sport raced it very little. He would go on vacation and trailer the car so he could drive it where ever he was a very little bit obviously, check out only 6606 miles.I am the third owner. I put a complete new interior, including dash, convertible top and tonneau cover using Rolls Royce leather and vinyl. All the work was done by the famous company Purich Auto Interior in NJ. They work on RR, Bentley, Porsche and many other high end cars from all over the world. This is a California car. I have never driven the car in the winter or rain. It has won just about every car show I have entered, numbering in the dozens. It shows 6606 miles since 1990 when it was rebuilt. From what I understand the first owner passed away and it went into storage for 8 yrs. I love this car it is better and fasted than the original Shelby Cobras I know I had one to drive in 1963-4...... But she most go, I am a big old man and I don't use it enough because it's getting harder to get out of do to health reasons. My Aurora is rare, very desirable, factory built, steel tube chassis, fully independent suspension, four wheel disc, Ford 5.0 V8, 5 speed trans., 450 bhp, includes manual, 0-100 in 7 seconds, new Dayton chrome knock-off wire wheels, chrome roll bar, leather interior, talbot style mirrors, power trunk release, 2 car covers 1 terrycloth 1 all weather brand new and more.
