Superformance Mark III #2881
Louisiana Vin # SP26048LA
Sadly, I’m getting older and can’t seem to enjoy my cruisin companion. She’s been good to me, and now deserves a good home with a caring owner. She was my dream come true, and brought enjoyment and great thrills to this ol gear-head!Damn, she’s only got just over 2600 miles on her.I’ve only driven her for an average of 290 miles a year??Kinda like having a smoking hot wife, that never takes her PJ’s off !!
I special ordered her new from Reed Performance Motorsport, a day I’ll never forget, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered her!!This was not only my dream car, but also the largest purchase, next to my home, that I have ever made.
Luckily the first ever Superformance US dealer, Doug Reed, was close at hand here in Louisiana. He pulled some strings to have my personal touches added to this car, such as grey piping on my black leather seats. (Seems I may be the only one with this)Since this body shape is kinda radical alone, I decided to tone it down by using a real classy Silver body with special black stripes(added ¼” to sides of standard stripe). It’s totally loaded with:
Factory optioned, full weather gear-Soft top with side screens, and full tonneau cover
Ceramic coated headers and side pipes
Polished Stainless full-hoop roadster bumpers ($1200 additional)
Wooden Moto-Lita steering wheel
Three speed heater defroster system
Polished stainless expansion tank for coolant
Polished stainless rollbar
Remote oil filter and cooler with protective rock guard screen
Locking glove box
Twin, shrouded, thermostatically controlled cooling fans
Vented Wildwood disc brakes on around
Ford 8.8 limited slip independent rear end
Coilover Bilstein shocks
Wing windows
Custom pleated w cobra logo door pockets, and leather knee pads at door hinges
Pin drive, true knock-off 15” aluminum alloy wheels
Full smiths original instrumentation with reverse-winding 180 mph speedo
Correct Lucas switches with fan override as well
New tires 3 years ago, just cause the others were getting old
Full meticulous, detailed documentation, including over 200 page owner’s manual.
Upon delivery from Superformance Factory, I sought out the Premier US Superformance installer, Olthoff Racing in North Carolina.Dennis Olthoff worked with me to fully tailor my dream to my liking, with this engine trans install below:
Ford Racing Parts stroked 351W= 392ci, 430 hp Part # M-6007-D392FFT, with forged pistons, crank, rods, hyd roller cam, lifters and rockers, double roller timing chain, GT-40 ally heads, deep sump 8 qt road race oil pan, full ally front drive pulleys, MSD billet distributor, ally intake with special Holley Street Avenger 750cfm carb dual feed with braided steel lines and filters, custom plug wires looms and connectors, chrome Ford Racing valve covers and oval ally high-flow air cleaner, chrome fan covers, overflow catch can with drain.
My choice of an automatic transmission was dictated by the assurance that a custom tuned Ford AOD overdrive Transmission, was a sporty bulletproof option.Although I have never horsed it around much, it has proven to be a great choice for an old man that is somewhat chilled in his old age.The custom valve body with shift kit, up shifts at 5500 rpm, and delivers a 2000 RPM cruise at 70 mph, so the engine breathes well as it is off the cam at these RPMs.
My lil girl has only been out on beautiful spring or fall days. She has never even been rained on, so the undercarriage is exceptionally clean “as new” in every way.I did once put the convertible top on, to use as a shade for a bright sunny hot days drive.I was surprised how drivable and comfortable it was on a sunny 95degree day.I left the side-screens off and unzipped the rear window on the top…..viola!nice shade and a breeze flowing thru the cockpit.
She only has just over 2600 pampered miles on her, in nine years since she came to life in Oct 2010.Seems it would take around $100,000 to duplicate this car, as equipped.I feel justified in standing firm asking$58,900.This is a SPECIAL car, and I, seriously will not sell her to just anybody with the money.Sorry, but if you just want to add her to your collection and look at her…please move on.I’m ashamed I have not let this thoroughbred run, she deserves a new owner that will appreciate her performance and drivability and use her as she was designed.I’m so sure that the first person to visit and drive her will buy her, I’ll offer to pay your travel expenses up to $500 should you show up and find anything not as perfect as I have described.
Caution-One draw back……. Crusin’ with her….. every fuel stop attracts attention, and questions to answer…..most common is, “is it real?”I usually smile and tap on her with my knuckle and say…. “damn straight, she sure ain’t no figment of your imagination, she’s real as they get!”
Damn sure gonna miss her!!
