1968 Shelby Mustang Additional Info:
Up for sale is a 1968 Shelby GT 350. The car has recently undergone an extensive restoration that included suspension, drive train, engine, brakes, fuel system, and a base coat/clear coat paint job. The body of this mustang was amazingly rust free. It retains all of its original sheet metal, frame rails, torque boxes, etc. The fiberglass was all original Shelby pieces and only required minor repairs. The fitment and alignment of the fiberglass is very nice. The car was refinished in its original Wimbledon White with Blue side accent stripes. The engine is not a numbers matching engine, however I sourced a date code correct "J" code 302 thermactor engine for its replacement. The engine was machined and rebuilt by a local machine shop. It is 0.030 over, flat top pistons, and a Comp Cams Nostalgia cam. The intake, valve covers, and air breather are original to the car. The Thermactor option has been plugged off for now, but could be added for those looking to complete a more correct looking engine compartment for the car. The carb is a Holley Street Warrior 600 with electric choke. Behind the engine is the original top loader 4 speed. Finishing it off is the original 3.89:1 9 inch rear end. The suspension received new rear leaf springs, shackles, front coil springs, rebuilt upper control arms, new lower control arms, bushings, ball joints, etc. The brake system has all new wear parts as well. Fuel system received the same treatment with a new tank and sending unit, lines, and pump. The electrical is all in good shape and working properly. The glass is original except the windshield. When you sit down into the driver seat you take a step back into 1968. We tried to keep as many original components as possible within reason. The seats are in their original upholstery, the doors panels are original, as is the instrument cluster and wood-grain dash components. The console, rear interior panels, fold down back seat, seat belts, 3 point harnesses are all original. The carpet, dash pad, headliner, scuff plates, and interior lights are the only replacement parts in the interior. Original reverse lock out shifter with Shelby knob. New reverse light wiring, upper and lower boot, and shifter linkage rods and bushings. All that being said the interior of the car is mostly original, the car shows 42K and change, and the interior does show some signs of wear. It is only original once so we left everything in tact that I thought still represented the car well. The underside of the car is very clean, red oxide primer on the floors with white paint overspray, rocker pinch welds are blacked out, and last the suspension detail painted. The mileage will go up as the weather permits. It runs, drives, shifts, and even sounds pretty good with an original style dual exhaust system finished off with some original style tips. The tilt away column will not release to the side without manual pulling the cable. It moves as it should up and down. An elite Marti report is pictured and is available for further review if needed. Not pictured is the spare wheel, jack, jack handle, and hold down. Also I have the original build sheet for the car. Clear title in hand. There is no warranty or guarantee implied. The car can be made available to be seen by appointment. I can offer enclosed delivery of the car within a few hundred miles for a fee. Please look through the pictures, read the description, and email if you have any questions Thanks! The car is located in Greensboro NC.... I'm not interested in trades at this time ..no low ball offers I will ignore them..I'm only selling because I found a GT500 that I'm wanting to purchase..
