SAAB HISTORY
The car was first purchased from Secors Auto Center in New London, CT on 7-31-89.
It was meticulously maintained by its first owner then sold to its second owner on 6-18-93 at a price of $9500. The second owner kept the car in N Windham, CT.
The second owner meticulously maintained it until an unknown date in 1995.
The 3rd owner was supposedly the previous owner’s father who acquired the car some time around 1995.
During his ownership, the transmission was replaced. A small claims court settlement was reached in order to get Saab to replace the original transmission. The housing of the original transmission will be included in the sale.
The previous owner (Bruce) received the car from his father around May, 2022. It was owned by his father and driven around Huntsville, AL until being garaged some time in the mid 2010s. Bruce (the precious owner) received the car and did a tune up on it including new oil, spark plugs, a high flow air intake, a new Bosch ECU, a new regulator, new tires, accessory drive belt, and the starter button (as mentioned below). Bruce was a mechanic so he did all the work himself, as well. The old parts and receipts (if available) have been included.
The current owner (myself) purchased the car on 5-26-25. Under my ownership I have replaced the brake master cylinder, the clutch master cylinder, the break-lines were bleed and faulty ones replaced, the fuel sender, and I had the rear C pillars and sunroof reupholstered. I changed the oil on 11/12/25 in preparation for the sale. I also replaced all bad fuses so all the electronics still work. I did all the work myself but I have included receipts for the parts.
MODIFICATIONS
High flow air filter added by previous owner. A starter button has been installed in the driver footwell due to the ignition not working with the key. This was also installed by the previous owner. The previous owner also added the aftermarket head unit from Sanpyl. This gives the car Bluetooth capabilities.
KNOWN FLAWS
1. The ignition does not work with the key. It starts every time with the button in the driver footwell.
2. The check engine light has come on a couple of times. It usually turns off after being driven for a few minutes. I think here is some sort of belt which might need replacing soon. The car squeaks slightly when upon start in the cold.
3. The odometer does not work. It stopped working under previous ownership. I estimate the real mileage to be somewhere around 135k-140k but there’s no way to truly know.
5. The fuel gauge does not work. I tried replacing the fuel sender which was faulty but that did not fix it. I think the fault is somewhere in the gauge itself.
6. Oil occasionally leaks from the car so i top it off every few weeks to be safe.
7. The cruise control is finicky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
