1988 Saab 900 SPG Turbo Hatch Additional Info:
Rare black with tan leather SPG in great shape. The '88 model year was ideal with its European headlights, water cooled turbo, and integrated bumpers; but easy to fix without the flaky ABS, airbags and "active" seat belts. Western car, now in New Mexico and virtually rust free. Lovingly maintained for 13 years by the current owner and regional Saab expert Scott Lundquist in Santa Fe. Maintenance records from previous owner and myself are recorded in a digital spreadsheet. The car is fast and drives straight and true, with tight suspension and perfect handling. Outperforms many SUVs in snow, equipped with Hakkapellitta R2s with 7/32 inches of tread. Best ergonomics I have seen in an automobile—and I am a PhD ergonomist...Body and interior are original except for fully restored boot cover, rear speaker panels, leather Saab steering wheel and added leather shift knob and replaced Saab leather shift boot. Carpeting is in exceptional shape for this vintage. Rear seats are virtually perfect, while fronts are fully intact except for one 3-inch crack on the passenger seat surface. Never in an accident (see CarFax), body panels are straight and clean with few nicks and scratches. Paint is original and without a clear coat, so it polishes well. Sun roof works beautifully. Headliner and A-pillar covers have been replaced and perfect. Extra gauges all work and light up as designed. Engine and transmission have been replaced with Saab built used units. Engine is very strong, smooth and passes the emissions check in Albuquerque. Second gear has sticky synchro when cold and when downshifting. I have used Amsoil 100% synthetic oil since purchasing. Heat is good; seat heater elements replaced but not wired correctly; A/C needs a recharge. Motorized antenna, defrosters, motorized mirrors, blower, heater control, cruise control, and dash lighting good. Nakamichi AM/FM with great sound. Three spoke SPG wheels beautiful. Sachs Advantage shocks perfect with new set in boxes. Rack and pinion steering box good. A frames good. Just replaced brake booster and rebuilt the wipers linkage. Full set of original tools in flip down tray with original foam cutouts under spare tire hatch. Replaced spare in good condition. Car includes extra spare parts, Bentley repair manual with notes, and very clean owners manual.
