1990 Saab 9000 Additional Info:
Selling my 1990 Saab 9000 CD 5-speed with a clean Massachusetts title in my name.
This lovely little Saab is Malachite Green with beige clothe interior. It is a 2.3Liter 4 cylinder non-turbo NA car. It has a smooth shifting manual transmission and 131,000 miles on the clock. It's an interesting package as it is a CD (sedan), manual transmission, manual climate control, metal sunroof car with clothe interior. It is currently registered, titled and inspected in my name in the great state of Massachusetts and located in Acton, Ma for pick up upon purchase.
I drive this car a few times a week and though it generally runs and drives great, it will need some work. Consider it more of a running, driving, easy restoration project for a true Saab lover.
I will need an AIC valve (air/idle control valve) as the idle dips low when you come to a stop after the engine is warm. Will stall out if you don't give it a bit of gas at times. You could still drive this across the country but once warm have to feather the throttle or simply replace the valve which only takes a few minutes. SRS light is on but it's a '90 so was never really too concerned about it.
It has a new thermostat, new fuel filter, plugs, just changed oil, tires older but good tread. It stops good and handles great. There is some play in the upper portion of steering column at steering wheel. I haven't had time to go through it though it passed inspection and is definitely safe to drive. The heat works great. The cabin fan only works on high speed so may ultimately need cabin fan speed resistor.
The seats are in awesome shape. The door cards needs some love. The headliner is excellent but the metal sunroof headliner missing. Dash has the normal few cracks for a 9000.
The outside of the car will need some attention. Floor boards and chassis great. Rust is developing at the base of the rear quarter panels and on the rockers behind the front wheels. It is repairable or just drive it as is. The paint has some clear coat burn on it but again, it's 27 years old now!
So what you are bidding on is a running, driving, inspected classic Saab with lots of character and tons of life left. It will need some elbow grease and some love but I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long drive. It comes with no written or implied warranty and is in as/is condition. Refunds not accepted. My driveway is full with a French project car so this old Saab needs to go to a good home!!!
Happy bidding and please feel free to ask any questions. It's a no reserve auction so have at it!!! :)
