A simply STUNNING & 100% original example ~
paint & interior untouched from new
The Silver Shadow II was the ultimate of the Shadow series with many engineering upgrades to include rack & pinion steering, revised suspension geometry for a surer ride, factory dual (quiet) exhaust, climate control air conditioning and a revised dash board lay-out.
This is a very original unmolested example that has been beautifully maintained and presents in outstanding condition. A Californian Rolls-Royce all its life so it is a “dry” car that has had a garaged environment. As a result, it has been freed from the perils of harsh weather and is very clean underneath. It has always been well maintained and serviced and comes with its original manual.
The car has all original paint, leather, carpets and wood.
I cant stress enough, just how beautiful this Shadow II is. The interior is simply wonderful. The tan Vaumol Luxan hides by Connolly are in amazingly wonderful condition with little wear nor fading and true to its Connolly characteristics. The leather really has been lovingly preserved and shows the correct amount of patina. For those of you who may not know, Vaumol Luxan grain was unique to Rolls-Royce. What you see is not only the tan colour leather but when these hides were tanned, the Luxan process involved hand-rubbing of a darker tone into the grain of the leather. This gives the leather a rich antique look so you can see the natural features right down to the individual pores. Somewhat like you see on a classical Chesterfield couch. The look is truly gorgeous. Some who do not know, might look at this and think the leather is worn or dirty. No! This is the way it is meant to be. If you like perfect one-colour leather, then I respectfully suggest you go buy yourself a new Lexus! And dare I add, if you cannot appreciate the attention to detail as seen with Vaumol Luxan grain by Connolly, that goes into a Rolls-Royce motor car, then perhaps a very original Rolls-Royce such is this one, is not for you.Have a look at these close ups of what luxurious Luxan grain looks like and how deliciously it presents
The burr walnut wood throughout the car is stunning. All the wood is completely factory original and in breathtakingly good condition, bar for a light imperfection on glovebox. It is rare not to see the wood cracked and peeling so for these to be original only proves its low mileage and cosseted life-style. And, you have to thank Mother Nature for its beauty. The grain and pattern with deep, rich knots makes it one of the most beautiful for Rolls-Royce. Absolutely stunning!
The head lining is original and in perfect condition. The original Wilton wool carpets with leather binding are in excellent condition. Likewise is the leather finish to the dash and top-roll. Normally the rear seat parcel shelf is faded – not so here! Even the boot (trunk) carpet with the same theme is in excellent condition.
The exterior presentation of this Silver Shadow II is equally stunning. The body is exceptionally straight and the paint is of excellent high standard and finish. The paint all over is entirely original which is quite unusual for a Silver Shadow as they usually all are terribly faded by this juncture. Over all, the paint-finish is excellent and totally shiny and glass smooth. A regular polish and wax from time to time is all this Silver Shadow requires. Someone has fitted the “third” tail lamp on the boot and as much as I consider that a shame, it does not present bad.
The car has a brand new set of Michelin XVS white-wall tyres fitted which are amongst the best tyre available for Silver Shadow II. They are very expensive at around $2,000 per set which, again, is further testament how this car was cared for and doted upon. The hubcaps are excellent with no imperfections in the stainless rings or caps. All remaining bright-work is in good condition. All electrics have been checked right down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. Even the clock keeps good time!
Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has not been precision detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its life. The under-bonnet heat pads are in great shape. Also genuine and not replaced. You must take the time to look at the photos of the engine bay as its presentation is like that of only a 5 year old example. Simply stunning!
As you would expect, this Silver Shadow II comes with its original jack, correct tools and operating manual. The tape player is factory original but the radio was replaced sometiem in the late 80, but don’t fear! – the original unit does come with the car and we can reinstall as you may wish.
Like all Park-Ward Motor cars, this Shadow II is subject to our unmatched “Predelivery Commissioning” program which is one that ensures the car is turn-key for the next owner. Every major and minor service is done, any maintenance needed attended to. This includes the all-important hydraulic system; brake pumps, accumulators, replacement of all brake hoses and system pressure tested and bled. Our Predelivery Commissioning is not just limited to mechanical but also all operational items and features, making sure that each are working as they should; AC, windows, seats and so on. Buying a Silver Shadow from Park-Ward is buying from the best. When the car is shipped, she is ready to drive and enjoy.
The odometer shows a startlingly low 56,500 and although this is not verifiable with documentation, there can be absolutely no question it is accurate (particularly when you look at the condition of the interior, under-hood, brake pedal etc). In fact, if I said the miles were half that, you would believe it. It is very quiet and smooth on the road without any of the typical “thumps” and “rattles” typical of poor (or even averagely) maintained examples of this model.
The Silver Shadow II is of a stupendously high factory original standard and is not only an easy 10 out of 10 driver rating but is close to show standard.
~~ This very handsome Silver Shadow II is an excellent condition representation of the marque that is ready to be driven and enjoyed. She is truly of “original show standard”. Take her to your next Rolls-Royce meet and you would be in the running for a prize ~ She is that good! ~~
International bidders are always welcome.
