Vehicle Details
1953 Rolls Royce Silver Dawn
Beautiful Car!
Original owners purchased new in West Palm Beach in Florida.
It was then purchased by a local millionaire and car collector in Charlotte around 1988 who did a complete restoration. The family always affectionately referred to the car as “The Duchess”, as Charlotte is called the Queen City. He passed away and I bought it from the family.
Their private mechanic that worked on it for him and did the complete restoration, literally bolt by bolt, still works on it today. I have his name and contact information if you ever have any questions on the vehicle, as he has known it well for the past 34 years and owns a Rolls Royce himself.
Leather seats were starting to crack with age and so I just had them completely redone. Brakes were soft and drums were locked up so we completely redid all of those. Recently had it serviced, changed some coils and have done a few other things. Total of about $19,000 in repairs with original parts.
Car runs and drives well.
I use it for car shows mainly and to get some ice cream or something just to drive it.
I have the original owners/service manual, which tells you how to service and completely work on the car, when, back in the day, the owner’s drivers were tasked with the job of maintaining them. I have the original tools and equipment that go with the the car.
The headliner is wool and will need to be changed out. Not an expensive repair and you don’t really notice unless you’re looking up at the ceiling in the rear. According to both owners, the radio never really worked, but always left the original in there and I use a Bluetooth speaker when driving.
Everything works as it should, it is garaged, on a battery tender and also has a sliding sunroof.
I have two sets of keys.
It’s insured with Haggerty for $95,000.
I would be open to all reasonable offers.
