1978 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II Additional Info:
Offered for sale is truly a rare find indeed. This 1978 titled Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II is not your run-of-the-mill 1970s Rolls-Royce sedan. This bespoke model was ordered purportedly for a member of the Kuwait royal family and indeed has been heavily customized. The car was originally finished in honey gold, however today it is wearing a Rolls Royce shade of brown. Among the many special one-off features that this car has, is the specification for the lightest possible bird's-eye maple wood throughout the interior of the car which carry over to the special order picnic tables which were fitted to the rear of the front seat directly above the special order dual cocktail cabinets. In the front sea, the custom order specifies that the standard issue cassette tape bin be replaced with a lockable center console. The rear armrest opens up for additional storage. The car was further ordered with a fire extinguisher to be mounted to the base of the drivers seat, a foot mounted pair of fiamm horns and a mini fridge to be located in the trunk, which has since been removed. Also, although this is not mentioned on the special features lis, the car has a leather-wrapped steering wheel that has thicker spokes than are commonly seen on this model . I have seen a similar one on a Corniche convertible however so this may have been a last-minute add-on by the dealer . This car was ordered as a left hand drive vehicle, however it has non USA specs meaning that features offered in Europe and not here in the states are present on this car. It has the chromed headlight wipers and it is mounted with rear fog lamps with a dashboard control switch. It also has a gold wash that was applied to all the door handles, the trunk handle and the silver wraith badge on the trunk. Finally, to go in harmony with the honey gold exterior, the front and rear seats were ordered with the center pleated portions to be done up in gold parkertex Savoy velvet. The interior is in good original condition. The exterior, with its one repaint and color change, is also in good condition with no dents to the body and the paint does shine up rather nicely. The tan everflex vinyl roof is also in good condition and there is a badge bar that has been affixed in front of the Rolls Royce Grill. Mechanically, this car will need a good deal of work to get it back in Tip Top running condition. Hence, it is being sold as a non-drivable project. The entire cooling system needs to be gone through as the water pump has gone out and in the process the fan detached itself and clipped the radiator which is now leaking as well. A new water pump and thermostat purchased from flying spares will be included in the sale of the car with the new buyer taking on the necessary work. Additionally, prior to the car becoming immobile due to the cooling system issues, the car ran rather well but it did smoke. Further diagnosis by a qualified Rolls Royce mechanic will be needed to determine exactly what the engine requires. As a result, this car is being sold "as is, where is "and again, in total non-running condition. The new buyer will have to arrange not only shipping, it will have to be towed on a flatbed truck from the garage of my home to its next transport vehicle. I am able to assist in the coordination of these efforts but all moving and shipping costs will be borne by the new buyer. The car was imported from Kuwait many years ago and it's been in the United States for at least 25 years that I'm aware of. Quite possibly longer than that. Please ask any and all questions that you may have. Thank you for your interest in this very unique vehicle.
