I am proud too bring to auctionthis 1985 Rolls Royce Silver Spur. This automobile is a two owner 60,336original mile car. This original unmolested car still retains much of its original documentation from time of purchase to includeowners manuals, window sticker of selling dealer installed accessories, key code cards, audio equipment manual, service manual, Rolls Royce owners handbook as well as the original manufacturers handbook.
I will begin with the history of purchase. The car was bought new at Charles Schmitt and Co Authorized Rolls Royce Dealership, 3500 South Kingshighway, St Louis Missouri 63139.The original owners information is with the car but I will only disclose that to the next owner out of respect for her. The cars sticker price was $113,500 new. The women who purchased the car new lived in upscale Clayton Missouri where it remained with its original owner until 9-16-2006 at which it went to its second owner in Ladue Missouri area. The car had been maintained at the Rolls dealer as often as possible until the dealership was closed then it became the job of a high end luxury automobile shop on Hampton in St Louis to service the car. The car has had wonderful ownership history in the best neighborhoods in Missouri from day one and it’s ultra low mileage and all original condition show it. The car was never really used as a driver choosing instead to drive the car on more special occasions such as weddings, church and the occasional St.Louis Cardinals game.
The car has all the luxury features you would expect from a Rolls Royce the leather seats, real wood door panels, power everything as pretty much everything is standard equipment on a Rolls Royce.
Now the not so good. The car had a broken drivers side mirror (not wrecked just mechanical problem) about two years ago and was driven to the repair shop. The repair shop parked the car in the the back corner of the shop where it remained for two years. When the mechanic went to start the car, the fuel distributor was not working. The mechanic bought the used hard to findpart ($2800 with labor), put the part on the car and the car started but the used partneeded new o rings on the distributor according to the mechanic. The new o rings took forever to obtain and just came in and are in the glove box. Motor turns over and try’s to fire but new o rings need installed. For this reason car is being sold as not running for a reduced price. Bear in mind that it was running well and drove to the spot it sat in the shop. A wise mechanic in my opinion would plan on drinking the two year old fuel from the tank and replace with new fresh fuel as part of this process as well as gas in my opinion should not be trusted after a year.
In the interest of a fair description I would also like to describe everything else I know of wrong with the car. The car had decent paint but as is typical of all 1980’s era cars the clear coat on the top of the car has peeled off fairly substantially. You can certainly get by with an inexpensive scuff and clear coat respray to solve the problem. The sides of the are good and need no paint rework for a driver condition car. The car has very little rust but it does have a spot ofrust on the top of the windshield and above the rear glass. This would be very easy to address at the time the clear coat on the top of the car is addressed. The rear package tray cloth and dash board have been slightly effected and will need reworked. The car has the typical wear you would expect to see on an all original interior of this age. It is a little worse on both the rear package trey as well as the dash board around the vents. The seat material on the drivers seat is a little more worn than on the other seats.I have included pictures of the underside of the car and was delighted to see it in fine condition. It is very obvious this car has not seen weather.
This is a pretty wonderful opportunity to purchase an all original, extremely low mileage, 2 known owner Roll Royce in need of some fairly minor repair for a fraction of the normal premium one would expect to pay for a high end luxury car like a Rolls Royce. I would like to take the time to fix the car but work and family obligations must take a priority so therefore I offer the car on the market for a fraction of its normal premium price.
