1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Additional Info:
Up for auction is a 1968 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Drophead Coupe (Convertible if you are on the left side of the pond) with body by Mulliner Park Ward. This body style later became known as the Corniche, however this example is early enough that it pre-dates the Cornich name. This particular example is a fantastic driver quality car particularly with the Chevrolet 350 engine under the bonnet. The engine in this car is a very low mileage factory crate engine and the car drives as well as it ever did. The primary difference is you can enjoy driving your Roller without watching hundred dollar bills disappear every time you start the car. These conversions were fairly common once upon a time since the original parts were pricey and sometimes a little confusing to us American mechanics. Another advantage of the conversion to the Chevrolet motor is the car no longer uses the complicated system of nitrogen globes being pressurized by the engine. The car now uses a tried and true hydro-boost braking system. As I have shown in the picture there is small ding in the passenger side rear quarter panel just above the wheel well. There is also a small area where body filler has cracked to the right of the license plate on the rear of the vehicle. This car was one of my fathers favorite cars, and while I hate to part with it I really don't have room in my collection for all of his cars and something has to give.
