1988 Renault Alpine V6 Turbo VIN D501-061-J
Original, very well-preserved car in beautiful condition. The car is blue metallic with leather interior. The car has no rust and no dents. The body is made of polyester, fiberglass, and aluminum, which makes the car considerably lighter (weighs only 2600 lbs) and quicker than contemporary competitors such as Porsche. This model was one of the best and one of the most aerodynamic cars of its time with the world record of CX 0.28 in its class, achieving top speed of almost 160mph. It is also a very rare car– only three per day were made from 1985 until 1990.
The car is powered by 2.5-liter V6 turbocharged PRV (Peugot Renault Volve) engine, producing 200 HP and 214 ft-lbs at 2250 rpm. This is a very fast and smooth car. This car is very roomy inside, is easy to drive, and can be driven every day without problems.
The car was sold new in Japan by Renault to its original owner. In 2015, a classic car dealer imported the car from Japan to Germany, where the AC system was converted to 134a Freon. I am the second owner of the car, which I imported to the US as a classic over 25 years old.
It has 19982 miles (32158km), documented by maintenance records as of 6/30/17. The car is all original except for three parts. The first owner replaced the original car radio to a Carrozzeria (Pioneer) radio-cd player (AM-FM not tuned for the US). The tires were replaced. I changed the engine carpet cover due to sun damage, and I have the original cover.
This car runs and drives very well. The engine, transmission, clutch, suspension, and brakes work perfectly. The interior is in good condition with minimal wear. The steering wheel is good with small wear on the left side. Power windows and locks work. The glass is in very good condition.
There are a couple minor details for the buyer to know. The paint is very good and looks great, but there are three visible scratches at the bottom of the right door and some chips and nicks, most likely from small stones. The rear bumper and right outside mirror have some sun discoloration, which is normal and to be expected with a car that is 29 years old. The front windshield gasket is dry. I ordered a new gasket, which comes with the car.
The car just passed a Massachusetts inspection with no problems. Mass title in hand. The car is sold as-is, and inspection is welcome and recommended.
