OVERVIEW
It’s no secret that air-cooled Porsche prices are on a meteoric rise that doesn’t show any signs of slowing, so finding what ostensibly is a ONE OWNER car (it was purchased under his business and then just put in his name) with all the original panels, paint, and more is akin to finding the Holy Grail!
Complete with as much documentation as you could ask for, and with a mileage track showing just 85,572 miles, this might be the finest, unmolested, and original example of a 911 Cabriolet you’ll ever find.

DESCRIPTION
This amazing 911 was purchased directly from the original owner, and is freshly serviced and ready for a new owner.
The prior owner purchased the car brand new at Bill Jacob’s Motorsports in Wheaton, IL on 12-1-1988 with 18 miles on it. It was titled to his company at the time, and even the early service receipts are in his name, not the company, to verify it.
It was later titled to him personally for the balance of its life, and has a service history mileage track to show what we believe to be 85,572 actual miles, however, the great State of Florida put EXEMPT on the title when they moved here from Chicago, and they were not aware that they had to inform the DMV that it was ACTUAL mileage, so the title shows EXEMPT.
The car wears its original Slate Gray paint all the way around that still shows wonderfully, with only stone chips, light scuffs, and typical general use marks to show for 27 years of service.
There is no sign of any prior paint work to any of the panels, aside from tiny stone chips that were brush touched over the years, and all of the panels have the factory original ID sticker intact.
The finish is still shiny and deep, thanks to an early life of summer use only, constant garage storage, and regular detailing. The overall quality of the paint and finish belies the model year of the car.
The convertible is in remarkably good condition, and spent most of its life down, so it has not been affected too much by the weather. Light, normal signs of wear are evident, but no holes, rips, seam pulls, patched segments, or any other signs of actual damage or disrepair are evident upon inspection.
Rear window was replaced and documented on 07/18/1995 due to a small stone chip.
The original FUCHS are in outstanding condition all the way around, with glossy black centers, clean crests, and nicely polished lip edges. They are wrapped in recent Continental tires, size 235/50R16 in back, and 205/55R16 up front.
Mirrors are clean and fully functional, with light stone chips and marks from normal driving.
All of the lights operate as they should, and are crack and damage free with no fogging or moisture issues.
Glass is all in exceptional condition, with no cracks, chips, or damage.
All windows go up and down like they should, and the tracks, scrapers, and fuzzies are in very good condition.
All emblems and badging are in great condition.
Interior is in remarkably good condition throughout, and shows only the most minor signs of use and wear, and no damage or disrepair.
Front bucket seats are the original dove gray hides, and while they do show the use lines you expect to find on a real high grade leather, there is no real damage evident. Rear seating area appears to have not been used often, and shows wonderfully in both the up and down positions.
Carpeting is in very good condition throughout the car, and the prior owner always kept two sets of mats in it, one cloth and one rubber, to protect it from Mother Nature.
Matching shift boot has typical light wear, and the shift knob shows patina from use.
Center console is clean and damage free, as are the door panels, kick panels, rear panels, and dash.
Dash has no cracks or damage, and all of the gauges appear to be functional and correct across the entire cluster. All warning lights and buzzers work as well.
Steering wheel is clean and damage free, but does show wear marks from use. The column and all switches attached to it shows wonderfully, and everything works as it should.
Everything electrical works on the car, including lights, wipers, horn, and dash lights.
The factory air conditioning system actually blows cold, and we recently replaced the fan for it to make sure it gets as cold as a 911 can.
Power window controls work as they should, and even the seat belt warning buzzer still shrieks at you like it should if you don’t buckle up!
The factory Blaupunkt radio sounds great, and all speakers appear to functioning as they should.
Overall, the entire shows quite well for being original and unmolested over the years.
The chassis on the car is clean, neat, and original, with no prior repairs, patch panels, rust, rot, or any other negatives other than being a little dirty.
Engine bay is clean and neat, and has no signs of any issues visible on inspection. Motor and transmission in the car are original to it. It has NOT been overly detailed and cleaned and painted, just left in original condition.
Under the bonnet, everything is clean, neat, original, and correct.
Factory tool kit is in place, as well as the Porsche compressor and tonneau for the convertible top, which as light staining but shows to be in great condition.
Mechanically, the car is in exceptional condition as well. It starts, idles, runs, drives, handles, and stops like a much newer car, and has impeccable road manners too.
There are no known mechanical issues with the car, and it performs just as you would expect a well-maintained, low mileage car would.
The car does not leak, weep fluid, smoke, or anything else it shouldn’t do.
The steering is spot on, and provides exceptional feedback to the driver. A solid center feel couples with progressive turn-in effort to let you carve corners in confidence.
Braking is solid and sure, and the system works seamlessly to scrub off speed without any excessive fade, modulation, or pulling.
We just had the brakes serviced and bled to make sure the new owner is ready to drive and enjoy the car without needing to do anything.
The car tracks beautifully, and does no pull or wander, even at higher than legal speeds.
Clutch effort is normal, and take up feel is solid and correct feeling.
The shifter goes into each gear with authority, and no signs of “popping out” out of car have ever been noticed in my time with the car, or the prior owners.
Shifts up or down are done with seamless ease, and high speeds runs are easy thanks to the easy and short throw.
There are no items to address on the car, and it has been a great car for me during the past few months.
I would not hesitate to fly in and drive it home anywhere in the lower 48, and the prior owner drove it from Illinois to Florida just about 6 months ago without issue.
